royal pains is a little crazy bc by the usual metrics it's just a fun medical procedural, with the unique factor being location (woah the hamptons! what strange snobby client will he deal with today!) but the setup sounds straight from a yaoi and Im not kidding

a young, naive, morally righteous doctor is fired for something that wasn't his fault, at rock bottom stumbles his way into an incredibly rich man's house party, ends up saving someone's life -> the mysterious older rich man takes an oddly strong liking to him & offers him the guest house for FREE as long as he agrees to be his personal private doctor. their interactions remain bizarrely charged and the drive of the show for the subsequent 8 seasons #ok
