Divided Skies is delighted to announce that we are officially opening for our seventh wave of applications!

"Nineteen moons ago, tensions reached a peak in the mountain StormClan, causing a schism to break the bustling Clan in two, while enemies and allies alike bore witness. Those defectors settled in the moors with the name of DawnClan, seeking peace with the forest BriarClan and marshland MistClan. Time and time again since, tragedy has struck in all four Clans of the territory: disease, disaster, and death abound. With new leaders in power, and new threats rising faster by the day, a time of great change has come. The morning has only just begun."

We are an 18+ semi-literate Warriors roleplay hosted on Discord. As such, you must have a Discord account and be 18 years or older to apply. We ask that you only send in one submission to the form. This opening will run from August 1st to August 15th, after which invitations will be sent out to all successful applicants.

This opening will be focusing on original character pitches, however, if you prefer finding a character with pre-established ties, please feel free to browse our adoptables document for all available characters and open connections!

Please make sure to check out our lore before applying! All of our documents can be found in our Table of Contents; we heavily suggest consulting our Clan Ledger first, to get an idea of the main factions. If you have any questions, send us an ask, and we'll back to you as soon as possible!

I was also wondering if you're accepting a certain amount of characters per group or basing your decision solely on application quality.

Yes, any application characters who are accepted will be grandfathered into the clan/roleplay UNLESS they have yet to actually join the clan (ex. A pitched outsider character who has plans to eventually join a clan)

That said, we are currently not accepting any kit/apprentice characters or clan cats under the age of 25 moons. If you have submitted an application with a pitch for a character within this age range, your application will still be considered; however we may ask that you age your character up upon approval. We would like to use this time to also remind applicants that—as stated on the form—if you are accepted, your character might need to be tweaked so that they might fit better into the established world.

We would also like to remind applicants to please be mindful when creating characters with backstories that rely on making a mother either abusive or absent, as well as backstories that rely on pregnancy struggles such as infertility and Postpartum Depression. There is already an oversaturation of characters who either have or *are* bad mothers, and characters who have struggled with Postpartum Depression in roleplay and we have noticed an uncomfortable trend in recent applications regarding these themes as well. Because of this, we kindly suggest putting more care in how mothers and women are portrayed in your applications and to refrain from utilizing these tropes as they will not be approved for use in-rp. We would hate for players to get attached to an aspect of your character that will not play out, however we must value the comfort of all players.

As for applications, we are reviewing each of them based off of their quality in addition to how well we think people may mesh with the rest of the server. We currently have no set amounts as to how many characters we will be accepting per group.

Very sorry about that! Yes, the Plot Summary is out of date- once you fall behind on an updating doc like that, it gets quite difficult catching up. We assure you a proper update for it is under construction behind the scenes, things have just been very hectic in preparation for this opening.

A few noteworthy events from the past 9 moons would include:

The Meridians, a group of rogues seeking to undermine BriarClan and MistClan, attacked the two Clans at a Gathering. There were several casualties among both sides. Thornstar, leader of MistClan, killed the leader of the Meridians. Several ex-Meridians went into MistClan to join as prisoners; those who participated in the battle were not allowed to join BriarClan.

Coltwhisker (previous deputy of DawnClan,) Willowfang, and Kitestorm of DawnClan shelter in BriarClan after an attempt on Coltwhisker's life gets him hit by a car and renders DawnClan unsafe to him.

In BriarClan, the warrior Gullwhisker was stripped of her suffix for endangering the life of another Clanmate. She has been Gullpaw since, and must earn a suffix alongside redemption.

Duskstar, leader of StormClan during the schism, left the Clans to join Beetle's Gang as Duskstorm. Cherrystar, formerly Cherrywhisker, ascended to leadership in his place.

The DawnClan apprentice Kitepaw died during a border skirmish with StormClan, having fallen off the bridge.

Beartongue in DawnClan is temporarily exiled for a week after attacking the deputy, Vervainfang.

Dawnstar of DawnClan loses her first life in a blizzard. In the aftermath, Vervainfang orders the digging of several "shelter dens" throughout the territory and changes the apprentice curriculum to include basic herb education.

MistClan mender Sorrelfall crosses the border into DawnClan while looking for herbs alongside MistClan apprentice Perchpaw. They are encountered by a patrol and chased off by coyotes, giving Perchpaw an injury that required his tail amputated. Sorrelfall herself suffered superficial frostbite on her way back to camp.

StormClan warrior Pumpkinstalk attacks his DawnClan littermate Pecansprout at the border, and is demoted back to Pumpkinpaw for it.

Coldflower, Crowflower, and Windberry of DawnClan are killed by coyotes on patrol. Morningpaw survives in critical condition.

A group of Clan cats receive dreams from StarClan directing them to the mountains, where they help a group of lost Twoleg kits get to safety.

MistClan cast stones to vote on the fate of the Meridian prisoners in camp. All except Fang were accepted to join, and went on a Pilgrimage to the Sea to be cleansed and renamed as Pearfreckle, Somberwhisper, Opalwish, and Fluffyswan.

Vervainfang and Dawnstar create the role of tunneler in DawnClan.

The myling Shiverpaw transforms into a wraith after attempting to drown Bitternpale of MistClan.

Coltwhisker and Willowfang depart from BriarClan, returning to DawnClan to expose Coltwhisker's attempted murderer: Vervainfang. Vervainfang fails to plead her case, and in a fit of rage, leaps to attack Coltwhisker a second time. She is stopped and killed by Willowfang.

Cherrystar of StormClan creates a council of nobles from warriors with high honor names.

The group is still active, yes! You can audition with a member of Beetle's Gang by selecting non-Clan on the faction interest question.

You can find some information on the Gang here, and they live in the Echoing Expanse. More specifically, their den is an abandoned gas station (you can find it marked on the map!)

As the clan organizer for MistClan, I really tried my best to really get in the nitty gritty! Religious beliefs and superstitions are complex and interconnected with each other. The rest of the team can attest, my planning board was a complex (but organized!) web connecting everything to each other.

I also really wanted to make the clan more nuanced. Superstition and religion aren't always bad things. Sometimes they come from real scientific phenomena. Sometimes they're a bit silly and harmless. Are there still harmful ones? Yes, of course. But I wanted to give players the opportunity to have a superstitious cat without feeling constrained to one frame of thinking.

Feel free to peruse our updated lore documents (especially our Clan Ledger) and cook up some ideas in the countdown to the opening. While you will not be required to select an adoptable character or connection this time around, the document will still be made available for those interested in seeing what roles we'd like filled. Again, if you have any questions or comments about our new lore, how the server is run, the upcoming opening, etc. then send us an ask; we've got a whole team eagerly waiting in the wings to answer!
