it's so fucking offensive that people consider western queer media somehow above asian queer media, but it's also so annoying that the argument is often that asian queer media is not realistic because it does not depict "the struggle". first of all, because that is not even true - a sizeable percentage of asian queer media does depict plenty of different struggles relevant to the particular country's culture and issues. but, second of all, because both the struggle that is being referred to by the "critics" and the way it is typically depicted in western queer media is often just completely irrelevant and unrelatable outside of the west.
