one of the best things for me in adulthood was realising just how many other human beings are mentally ill, weird, stupid, embarassing. like truly truly we all say idiotic things and make mistakes and i dont have to punish myself and crawl into a hole and die over being imperfect. Read one comments section and you'll understand that there are more lunatics than you could ever imagine

i’m so dead serious like if you come over to my house and you’re not nice to my cat, you have to leave. if you call my cat a bitch, you have to leave. if you try to imply my cat was mean or inconsiderate on purpose, you have to leave. if you try to agitate my cat on purpose because it’s funny to you, you have to leave. if you do not respect my home as my cat’s home too at the very least, you have to leave.

It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.

And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.

I attended an anti-suicide seminar in college. One of the big takeaways from it was that stigmatizing suicide increases the rate of suicide, because people who are feeling suicidal feel like they can't ask for help. Every time I see babytalk garbage like 'unalive', I think of that.

I feel like one of the biggest life hacks I've found after my twenties is that gravitating towards people who define themselves by what they love and are rather than what they oppose or aren't tends to lead to people who are more generally nice to be around

it is genuinely bewildering to me that adult human beings do not know this but if you are mean to people they will not like you. like tbh they are probably also not going to like you if you are mean to other people but they are definitely not going to like you if you are mean to them. it doesn’t matter if you are funny or if you can use r/aita rules to prove that you are in the right. people simply do not enjoy being treated like shit.
