Aries in the 5th house: Those individuals who are an Aries in the 5th house, possess a very bold and impulsive sort of creativity. Whenever inspiration strikes, they switch into “creation mode” where nothing but that one thought and its realization count. Their creativity is not a quiet one, but a part of their life that needs to be meaningful and is meant to be seen and understood by others. They often push their art towards a particular cause and want it to change the viewpoint of their surrounding. 

Taurus in the 5th house: Like everything in Taurus’ life, their art needs to be savoured and they need their sweet time to get to that point where they are satisfied with what they are creating. They feel inspiered by what is around them and especially nature provides them with everything they need to turn everyday-life into an art form. They like to be on their own and value a quiet surrounding when it comes to expressing their personality creatively. What counts for them is the process of creating something from scratch, they don’t necessarily need the appreciation of others to feel that their art is meaningful.

Gemini in the 5th house: With the strong influence of Mercury in their corner, they are overspilling with new ideas, creativity and a zest for life which translates into an energetic approach to art. It is not at all uncommon for those with Gemini in the 5th house to start a new project before they finish an old one. Their inspiration springs from everything that surrounds them: people, nature, cities, everyday-life. They are especially good with words, so others should expect them to charm with metaphors and poetry. Always lively and full of passion, it is rare to catch a Gemini in the 5th house in a creative slump.

Cancer in the 5th house: Their vast understanding for emotional subtleties and the struggles of others makes them very open for every art form there is. They often transform their rich feelings into beautiful artistic projects and therefore also see a lot of their own emotions in the creative expression of others and believe that the most important purpose of art is for it to make them feel something. Because it originates from the part of you that they know best, they are very confident in what they create and always trust their instincts to lead them to where they want to be in the end. 

Leo in the 5th house: Those with Leo in the 5th house are very confident in their creative expression and especially when it comes to performing arts, they have a sort of natural grace and glimmer about them. These are usually the people who like to stand out from the crowd and do not shy away from showing the world who they are. Fun-loving and brave, they always like to share creativity with their surrounding and, likewise, take a lot of what is around them as inspiration.

Virgo in the 5th house: Because of their knack for orderliness and the practical side of things, Virgo in the 5th house is not typically associated with creativity but there are not many signs that appreciate beauty in all things as much as they do. Their creativity is a forceful and energetic one which leads them to the ends of perfection. Creative projects undertaken by this sign are sure to be finished and polished until they’re absolutely identical with what they had in mind. They are especially good with words and imagining stories out of thin air.

Libra in the 5th house: People with Libra in their 5th house are quite romantic and usually see the world through rose-tinted glasses. They love to work in pairs or groups when it comes to creativity because they receive a lot of inspiration from social interactions and human behaviour. What they process in their art, doesn’t come from within but from what they’re experiencing in the great wide world. Because they can be described as old-fashioned, they are definitely influenced by history and enjoy old movies, music or fashion. 

Scorpio in the 5th house: This sign values their privacy and especially their art, which stems from deep within, is holy to them and therefore not easily shared with just anyone. Especially when they were young, they often felt like a misfit which enabled them to fill whole canvasses with their innermost feelings and insecurities. They are quite gifted when it comes to turning their feelings into creative expression and can tune out absolutely everything around them when writing, painting, making music or dancing. 

Sagittarius in the 5th house: Needing to feel absolute freedom, those with Sagittarius in the 5th house get a lot of inspiration from discovering new things such as people, cultures and food. They can’t create when they are stuck in one place. They are absolutely open when it comes to sharing their creativity with others and making art a shared experience. They love colour and burst with energy which shows in their creations. 

Capricorn in the 5th house: Working hard and dedicated, their creativity always leads them to a certain goal. Unlike others, they can’t just start doing things without any intention to ever finish them. When inspiration strikes, they are determined to follow it to the dark places and never let it slip through their fingers until you are exactly where you want to be. When creating art, they are very straight-forward and organized, relying on the things they already know instead of drawing from the things that are strange to them.

Aquarius in the 5th house: Unconventional and eccentric, those with Aquarius in the 5th house make art that is often considered as wild and crazy. Drawing from dreams and their subconcious, they create things that may not be understood by everyone but are true to their personality. They are very daring when it comes to creating, always trying out new methods and stepping out of their comfort zone. Their art is fluid to the point where it’s sometimes hard for other people to figure out what their personal style is. 

Pisces in the 5th house: Equipped with a very imaginative mind, those with Pisces in the 5th house burst with creativity but have a hard time translating it into real art. Idealistic and romantic, they spend a lot of time thinking about what they are trying to say but can’t show or explain it to other people because they feel like they are in completely different worlds. When they manage to really create something, it is highly probable to be based on emotions and a rich inner world.

this passage planted itself in my consciousness when i was 24, and 10 years later, it informs so much of my approach to living, thinking, creating.

like. gay women, do you remember growing up being told you were meant to find a husband, carry the children you have with him, support them and him first, maybe to the point of effacing yourself? and gay men, do you remember growing up being told you were meant to find a wife, get a good job, father children, and carry on the family name and everything that goes with it?

do you remember realizing that you could never be this? and that, at the end of the day, the thought of being it repulsed you? that you were fundamentally different–flawed, even–fundamentally wrong and that everything you needed in your life was immoral and unnatural, or at least a disappointment? do you remember that choice you made? between rejecting everything you’d been told was in your future trying to make something of that pain–and sacrificing a fundamental part of yourself trying to be something you weren’t?

do you think straight people go through that? do you think that, being told all the same things, they know what it’s like to feel that panic and alienation?

i don’t understand why they can’t see that our closets are like this too. that we didn’t grow up internalizing everything society prescribes for a man or woman–that we grew up full of dread, and horror, and constant questioning of what was wrong with us and how we could possibly exist in the world. that, even if we tried to fulfill those prescriptions, we did so at the cost of our bodies and personhoods. that, as women, we were reckoning with the confines and disenfranchisement of womanhood on top of this.
