Well I believe that in general, the Grim Reaper/Death is told to be cold ("ice cold hands"). And when people/creatures die, their body gets cold too. But Death is also a wolf, with fur and hellish pink flame powers.

So yes, I think Death can either be hot or cold because ... he's Death straight up x)

Aouch. The truth is I too still have trouble today to draw Death's longass snout... (>///>;)

But just because it is long in the movie doesn't mean we have to draw him exactly like this. Depends of the artstyle.

Drawing his snout in profile view is easier. But in 3/4 view, first you gotta think in geometry. Imagine his snout having the same shape as a 3D rectangle, then refine in more details (nose and lips).

The same goes for any wolf or dog. I hope it helps a little.
