A bad tutorial on how to rip the models + animations from ultrakill and put them in blender
Note: Im using a blender addon to import the models, this is because fbx import is kinda broken by default in blender. The addon Im using is called better fbx importer and exporter. Its paid, but there are other ways to get it. Try without the addon first. If it doesnt work, DM me for a link.
This is NOT a blender tutorial. k? pls dont ask me blender questions.
You will need: Blender (free), AssetStudio (free), and if you want to make gifs, some sort of program like photoshop. I'm not explaining how to render things or make gifs.
ok. Begin.
Go to your install of ultrakill and copy the file path.
Open asset studio and click LOAD FOLDER. Not any of the other ones. Paste the path to your ultrakill FOLDER. Not any of the folders inside that folder, just use the whole thing. Then. Wait. If you dont have enough ram, this wont work. If your pc isnt great this will probably freeze up. If that happens, sorry not much I can do.
Once its all loaded, go to "asset list", then under filter type select "animator" and "animationclip". Search for what model you want. In this case, theres a lot. I dont remember which one i used but most of them should work. Some may have extra stuff attached, like swords.
right click the animator and click "go to scene hierarchy"
Select it. Again, this isn't a blender tut so the model you grab may be incomplete, for ex: sisyphus and minos have separate parts for their hearts/veins and sisyphus has a unique head made of 3 parts. Im sorry I wont be explaining all that :p This is just a basic guide. Experiment and you'll get it eventually.
BTW you can grab his weapon models but I havent figured out how to include them with the animations yet. If its even possible, idk.
Now for the annoying part. Finding the animation. If you just search for gabriel, you'll notice only 3 come up. I suggest sorting only by "animationclip" (do not use the search bar) and trying to find one. If you grab an animation for someone else, it wont work. This is just trial and error. For ease, I will be using the one called ZweiCombo (not ZweiDash despite the pic, i fucked up lol), I know this one belongs to gabe cause he is the only one with swords, well besides swordsmachine but you get what I mean..
Ok, now create a folder somewhere and name it.
Under model, use "export selected objects (merge) + selected animationclips" and export it all to the folder you made.
Now open blender and import the fbx file. If you press spacebar you should see something move. If it doesnt work then um.. you either grabbed the wrong animation, wrong model, or the fbx import got fucked. Trial and error. The textures also may be missing but again, this is not a blender tutorial. You can search that up, but to find textures if they didnt export at all, use filter type "texture2d" and search the character, you should be able to find all their textures. Some exceptions tho. For ex: gabes wings are named like "t_wings.png"
done :]
There are other ways to grab the model, by grabbing the "mesh" not the "animator". I think works both ways, as far as I can tell?
EDIT: Forgot to mention that, as far as I know, you can only have 1 animation attached to the model you exported. This is why we made a folder. So if you want 5 animations from the same character, create 5 folders and export the model 5 times with a different animation selected each time. If an animation doesn’t work, I recommend just deleting everything you exported and starting again.

there's a really funny 3d printing controversy going on btw.
if you don't know, there's a very popular 3d printing model out there called "benchy". this is used for benchmarking your 3d printer because it's a difficult print and will help test it out.
this is so widely used that people make their own little versions of it, remixing the 3d model to make benchy look cooler and stuff. however, a new company owns the benchy license. they are sending copyright takedowns to all those who wrongfully uploaded the benchy model.
of course, this is pissing off the 3d printing community greatly. everyone loved benchy and have used it for years. so someone on reddit decided to make a new model that is designed as a 3d printing stress test. one that works a lot like benchy, and people are freely able to edit it as they please. you know what they called it?
boaty.

so is this what gabriel's treachery debut in 9-1 gonna be like
when I first saw your art of babe-riel I had the old “gabriel punting babies” audio flashbanged into my head like a divine vision
ohhh like this, right?
that's my favorite!
now have a completely unasked-for intrusive-thought sketch of Gabriel paradoxically punting himself as a baby.
How intelligent, I was worried he might be stupid

Dove-Shaped Perfume Vessels from Ancient Rome, c.50 CE: these glass vessels were filled with scented oils or cosmetic powders and then sealed, meaning that their contents could only be accessed by breaking the dove's neck or tail
These bottles were created and used as unguentaria (otherwise known as balsamaria) which are ancient vessels that were typically filled with scented oils, cosmetic powders, balms, or ointments. Unguentaria could be crafted from ceramic, glass, or stone, and they came in various shapes and sizes, but dove-shaped vessels made of glass were especially popular during the second half of the 1st century CE, when they were produced and distributed throughout the Roman Empire.
Above: a dove-shaped unguentarium with residue from the original contents still visible inside
Each bottle was crafted from blown-glass that was carefully modeled into the shape of a bird; the inner cavity was then filled with perfume or cosmetic powder, and the tip of the tail was reheated and compressed, effectively sealing the vessel.
Above: dove-shaped vessels that were opened and emptied long ago, c.50-100 CE
As this article explains:
The vessels were produced with glass blowing pipes by so-called "free blowing," and are for this reason extremely thin-walled, with body thicknesses significantly below 0.1 cm.
After the containers had been filled, the tail feathers were sealed airtight by reheating to protect the contents from moisture. Parts of the containers, such as the head or tail feathers, had to be broken off in order to access the contents of the vessels, which means that they were disposable packaging.
Above: vessels with the tips of their tails broken off
Most of these bottles were made from clear or pale blue Roman glass, but some were crafted with a dark blue, green, purple, or yellow appearance instead:
As cheap, mass-produced goods, the packaging consisted mainly of the conventional thin-walled and transparent Roman glass with an unintentional light blue colouring. Specimens made of intentionally coloured transparent glass (e.g. dark blue, dark green, violet or yellow) are less common. This may also have to do with the fact that the pink or white contents could be visually better distinguished and marketed if the vessels were made of the conventional Roman glass, which offered more transparency to the beholder than the intentionally coloured glass.
Above: a sealed unguentarium that likely contains scented oils and cosmetic residue, from Rovesenda, Italy, c.50 CE
Research suggests that many of these bottles were filled with powder, including pink substances that have been described as "blush" or "rouge," while others were filled with liquid.
Above: more dove-shaped unguentaria from the Roman Empire
Vessels with this design (which is also known as Isings form 11) have been unearthed at Roman-era sites located throughout Europe:
Evidence shows that these glass containers were widely marketed in the Roman Empire. The main areas of distribution are the central and northern Italian regions of Campania et Latium, Venetia et Histria, and Transpadana, along with the northwestern provinces of Gallia Belgica, Gallia Lugdunensis, Germania inferior and Germania superior [in what is now Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands].
There is also evidence from the Balkan and Danube region in the provinces of Dalmatia and Pannonia, and also from the eastern Mediterranean in the provinces of Achaea, Creta et Cyrenae and Macedonia. The distribution in the western Mediterranean seems to be limited to Hispania Tarraconensis.

CRASHES IN FROM WORK WITH A DUMB GABV1EL AU IDEA:
okay so angels every few centuries or so have to do a guardian angel rotation, sorta like how lawyers do pro bono cases for their portfolio. It's considered a bit of a chore but not a bad one, as the human lifespan is like a blink to angels.
not even gabriel is exempt from "you must do guardian angel duties once every four hundred years" but he genuinely looks forward to it bc its a few years (decades) out of the office (hell), he gets to chill, watch a human for a bit, decompress, etc etc. It's like a sabbatical!
anyway due to a clerical error where machines are accidentally folded into the list due to poor if/when logic built into the automated system that allocates angels to humans (if it has blood and is sapient, is human, which machines now also tick the boxes for), Gabriel is assigned as V1's guardian angel.
Gabriel can refuse it, but it will be ticked down as a "failed guardianship", which, okay, every angel messes up one guardianship BUT NOT GABRIEL. he prides himself on his 100% success rate and he is not giving up his success streak bc of a dumb clerical error!
tl;dr gabriel is v1's guardian angel and it is the biggest ordeal of his life
