The racism in this fandom NEEEEDS to be studied.
Canon artworks have whitewashed Clawdeen and Hexiciah, and have lightwashed Clawdia. Nefera is darker than Cleo in the movies but EXTREMELY pale in the webisodes. People still to this day argue against these being racist.
Clawdeen and Hexiciah are sometimes portrayed as overly aggressive, more masculine than they actually are, or in Hexiciah's case specifically sometimes straight up evil when that's completely out of character for them.
Some people characterize Clawdeen as extremely strong and acting like she can beat anyone in a fight when they don't do this for most of the other main ghouls, which personally sounds kinda icky.
In queer ships, Hex and Clawdeen are, again, usually made oddly more masculine and in Clawdeen's case specifically is sometimes portrayed as butch ( not as a headcanon but under the impression that it's canon ), despite that being mischaracterization. Clawdeen is almost always the one yearning and being the third wheel to Drac and her partners, and Drac is sometimes the whiny little baby who needs her big strong Clawdeen. Yet you don't often see the also sensitive emotional and fragile Clawdeen needing comfort from Drac. Jayvik demons saw Hexiciah and Victor and immediately thought "yaoi" and completely ignore that that's student and teacher. I know what y'all are.
People still insist up and down that Abbey and Robecca are white despite them literally Not Fucking Being White. Abbey states blatantly that she's from the Himalayas, and guess where that is ? Robecca has brown skin, her father is very clearly South Asian, british indian people exist, and Robecca has repeatedly faced racism. Shit some people even say the wolf family is fucking white.
Same goes for Lagoona and Gil. Oh so Lagoona just HAPPENS to face prejudice, have a dad with maori tattoos, and have a sister with an afro ? And Gil just happens to have asian features, asian inspiration, and a dad who was in the KOI scouts ?
People still deny how Marisol, Isi, Abbey, and Jinafire come off as racist.
People still ignore the racism zombies have faced, which is so normalized that even some of the main ghouls do it.
Someone was attacked for drawing Abbey with dark skin, and HUNDREDS of people made blatantly racist remarks about her looking better with pale skin.
Some people are still more mad at G3 Lagoona being pink than they are that ( specifically Nick G3 ) she's a stereotype of Hispanic people.
People still make anti black remarks about G3 Venus.
People still straighten black dolls' hair.
People still draw artwork deliberately white washing characters
There are definitely more examples I just can't think of em immediately.
In a franchise that preaches so much equality and anti bigotry, this fandom sure does fucking suck. It's so white centric it's disgusting.
