I loved Kara and the fact that she’s a good person even though she’s messy. She’s constantly annoyed by Ruthye and yet always protects her, because she is a hero at heart and she did not lose herself when she lost everything.

I loved Ruthye, she’s trying so hard to do what she thinks is right and she pushes Kara to be better! They build each other up so well in the movie and ask the hard questions that force growth.

Krypto was cute and even though I’m not a dog person I was motivated by him too. I love how they show he’s her connection to Krypton with the backstory.

I’ve seen people call it repetitive, but I disagree. I think that searching for Krem across space led them to a lot of interesting situations and I was always invested in what was going on.

I’ve also seen people bash Krem as boring and a bad villain. Maybe I’m wrong for finding a family-murdering sex trafficker a good villain for this movie, but I was rooting for Kara to kill him the whole time. I was shocked that he killed the bar owners and their daughter, it was horrific and really sad.

I thought they placed the exposition well. They gave Kara and Ruthye time to breathe together and let us take a break from the action. Kara having to watch Argo City die and her conversation with her father made me cry.

I liked that they used her silver age origin, I know it confused people but I kinda liked it better than “she’s older than him but her escape pod was slow and she was frozen in time so when she got to earth her baby cousin is suddenly older than her” bc it’s just so weird to happen naturally.

The ending sequence was weirdly Mad Max Fury Road between the sand and the cars and the “brides” but I’m not complaining. The song choice was jarring but my thought process was quite literally “wait for real? This is kinda on the nose. Actually, whatever, I can get into it.”

Clark is there a little and it gives Kara somewhere to go at the end when she decides to really be Supergirl. I’m excited for Man of Tomorrow to see how they contrast each other. Oh, and Lobo is there. It’s fine. He gives a good performance and sets up the themes of the movie I guess.

I think when my biggest issue with a movie is that I want more, the movie did its job. The movie never dragged, and even though I could have watched another hour of Kara’s life in Argo City and Earth and Ruthye hanging out with her, it wasn’t necessary for the story and they didn’t try to make it longer than it had to be.
