carry the water
If someone tries to schedule an important meeting outside of regular business hours, or on a day that the public schools are closed, be the one to point out that it causes trouble for people with child care duties – even if you happen to have a spouse who can take care of it.  Â
Tiidenburg Response
I found the article very interesting. I feel that having such great access to the internet and an ability to connect with and research so many different identities allows people today to form more complicated identites than in previous generations. People now have the ability to become a Jack-of-all-identies which they are able to share in varying depths online that may not be possible offline.Â
Make games, stories and interactive art with Scratch. (scratch.mit.edu)
Here’s my finished scratch project. It’s called Tera’s Haunted Rescue.Â
For my Scratch project I would like to create a sort of “pick your own adventure story” type of animation that interacts with the player directly by asking questions and integrating the responses into the story/game. I was inspired by an element of the game that allows the sprite to ask a question and provides a box for the player to to type a response. I hope to have an objective such as allowing the player to use the sprite to uncover a treasure or object.

Rhetorical Analysis of Multimodal Texts
I compared the websites for Walmart, Kmart, and Target.
While all three websites have the same purpose, they are all layed out a liitle differently.Â
Each text has a similar author: a retail chain, a similar purpose: streamlining the shopping process, genre: shopping website, and context: each provides a superstore style shopping experience.Â
Each website puts emphasis on the many different types of products they sell. For Kmart.com, these options are posistioned across the top under the colored (branded) heading. For Walmart, you have to select a drop down box, to access the categories. For Target, the catagories are listed down the right side, much like the Walmart site, however, Target cuts out the need for an unneccessary click.Â
Each website uses contrast to display the colors associated with the retailer, and to clearly identify featured items.Â
Both Walmart and Kmart have moving banner for their featured items, but target does not.Â
Response to OK Cupid girlÂ
I like that the OK Cupid girl recommends things that seem to be empowering and body positive. I don’t usually take selfies to post to social media, most of them I just send to my friends or fiance on Snapchat. I feel like I never take one good enough for Facebook but maybe I will get some better ones with these tips. The above picture is a druken selfie I took at a friend’s Halloween party. I like this selfie because it demonstrates my excitement but I am cleary drunk so I dont think it was appropriate for Facebook.Â
I found the comments on the article rather disgusting. The article was meant to empower women to take more pictures that made them feel confident, however, most of the comments were just about how the subject was great, but other women are terrible because they lack depth, sports interests, etc., or that her efforts to post great pictures were not the reason for her success, she was just attractive. I think that women face a lot of this type of criticism whenever they post pictures of themselves, especially if it is combines with a list of their accomplishments.Â
Multimodal Texts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmRih_VtVAs
One of the multimodal texts I collected was the recently released trailer for Suicide Squad. The trailer uses visual communication in its settings and character design, linguistic communication in the individual quotes and writing for the credits/title, aural communication in the music and sound effect choices, spatial in the set design and posistioning of the main characters in realtion to supporting cast, and gestural communication to signal character development throughout the trailer, and potentially, the movie.Â
Another of the multimodal texts I collected is the confused man meme. This meme uses visual communication through the picture, gestural communication with the man’s confused face, linguistic through the use of question marks, and spatial through the posistioning of the question marks.Â
These texts are different in that the first one uses all five forms of communication to convey a complex message, while the second one uses ony four forms and conveys a more simple message.

COUP
Overview: Coup is a bluffing game in which the player chooses two character cards at random and uses them to earn coins and kill off other players’ “influences”.Â
Objects: Includes fifteen “influences” or character cards, coins to use for actions against other players, and cards for each player listing the actions of each influence. When you collect 10+ coins you must perform a coup and remove another player’s influence.Â
Change: I would have players discard into a different pile than the one the players pull new cards from. This would allow players to keep track of which influences have been discarded and better guess when their oponents are bluffing and add another layer of strategy to the game.Â
