The Island is underrated and this blog aims to... exist?... about it.

If you click on the Lincoln Six Echo tag (’The Island’ is proper vague) and make sure it’s sorted by most recent, you only need to scroll once to find posts from 2013. This is a crime.

Since watching this film in September (2020), my gf and I have decided to reanimate this film’s lifeless form the way Luigi Galvani electrocuted dead frogs: with earnest conviction and obvious futility. Who knows, maybe someone will write a book inspired by this, too, though I suspect it’s unlikely.

So what have I been doing?

Well, I've got:

Two fanfics up on Ao3 (and Wattpad) with more drafts of varying levels of seriousness in a Google Doc

A video I've uploaded in two parts here and can't upload to YouTube for copyright reasons

A wiki because there wasn't one so I couldn't find info for my writing :(

A discord server, mostly populated by irl friends I've dragged into this hell ngl

This is a major WIP especially since I’m the only one working on it so bear with me while i lay foundations

I'm planning on doing more but I also have a bunch of Star Wars stuff I'm working on so we'll see. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Do you think The Island needs more explosion?

on one hand i think the amount of explosion is optimal because mr bay ran out of money for explosions at the end and it really miffed him but the ending is probably better for it and now its his least favourite michael bay film but my most favourite michael bay film

on the other hand they should have blown up tom and also mac in the train station. i think thats entertainment real estate well used with explosions. no lead up, no gore. they just explode and then it cuts away to lincoln goin O.O also they should explode all of LA including the renovatio. and they should explode mr bay

My go-to music choice for writing, if anyone is interested, is the soundtrack of 2005 sci-fi movie The Island staring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson and directed, as I just found out this very second, by Michael Bay of all people, and which is, conversationally, one of my favorite movies of all time somehow.

So I'm rewatching The Island (2005) and right at the start one of his shoes goes missing. It literally never pays off, did they cut a scene or did I just miss something?

Finally,,, someone that overfixates on this dumb movie as much as I do. (sobs) I've had a fascination over this movie pretty much since I watched it in High School? I don't know why, but it just stuck with me so badly and it kills me so hard that it's so underrated. I'm tipping my hat to you for shedding some light to this piece and carrying the fanbase on your back the way you do. Thank you. (tips hat)

Just found this blog because I was looking for gifset for this movie. Very sad to find so little. Know that you're not alone with your feelings, The Island has been one of my favorite movies for a very long time and still is. The world needs to know x) also somehow I never knew it was a MICHAEL BAY movie until today??? I'm shook, how did he pull that off.

ikr? its tragic! there are occasionally gifsets but they aren't always tagged thoroughly, and they're few and far between. I can't do gifs but I am collecting screen caps for the Wiki in case you ever want me to post some!

also apparently Michael Bay Does Not like this film which is hilarious to me. I'm kinda glad he ran out of budget for the climax ngl, didn't need to go full bayhem.
