Me, internally: It blows my mind that Dimitri and Edelgard are literally the perfect character foils for each other. They fall on opposite ends of the “Greater Good” spectrum. Dimitri is so obsessed with the small picture, saving as many people as he can, that it literally drives him insane with guilt that he can’t do it. Edelgard is the exact opposite, so obsessed with the big picture that she completely misses how she’s affecting people personally and ends up sacrificing most of her friends in any route that’s not her own. One can barely comprehend the larger scale effects and the other is so hell-bent on the greater good that she’ll kill literal thousands to achieve it. But that’s also why Claude is such a good middle ground. He’s the only one of the three that can see the big picture and the small picture and strike a balance between the two. He’s willing to get his hands dirty to fix the big problems but he’s also not willing to just steamroll everyone to do what he thinks is right.

And don’t even get me started on the fact that it looks like we’re getting functional fucking x-wings before cars!
