De Wereld Van Het Witte De Withkwartier - Rotterdam - September 12th It is an Art/Culture festival in and around the Witte De Withstraat in Rotterdam, I've been there before, and I think it's really cool, it's 3 days and totally free! Deathly Hallows Part 2 Screening - Amsterdam - September 27th They're bringing back the Harry Potter, experience the pain of it ending once more! Tristate Event - Maastricht - October 11th Remember the 500MoA, the Dutch and Belgian HPA, the International Gathering, charity? Well We decided to combine ALL OF THESE THINGS. 500 Miles of Awesome is working together with the Dutch and Belgian HPA and HPA Germany for this year's event. The event comes in three parts, part 1: a scavenger hunt through maastricht, part 2 dinner at the StayOkay Hostel and part 3 a fancy ball. More info on the event and in this FAQ! Our very own Anton Olbrechts has participated in and WON a film competition with his video about Gender Roles. He will even get time on the radio, MNM nontheless!

As a subplot of the same competition another Nerdfighter, Margot Vandersmissen, won in a smaller part of that competition with her 'Gay Best Friend' video.

Gatherings were threatened by the end of the NS Groupsretour, but fear no more, it stays for another year and a bit. The price was augmented to €55.-

The 500 Miles of Awesome has just gone through their third round of kiva loans. They have once more loaned a total of $1700.00 using kiva.org. You can like them on facebook and follow them on tumblr!

We haven't done a survey for a while, so we thought (inspired by the Nerdfighter census done by Hank) we would make a survey for the Dutch and Belgian Nerdfighter community.

It focusses around the different media used to engage the Dutch and Belgian Nerdfighers (this includes gatherings). We would like to know how found out about this community and maybe how we could improve upon it! The survey should not take longer than 10 - 15 minutes (unless you start writing entire stories, which you are more than welcome to do of course! ;)) The more responses we get the better of course! The price has been set to € 11.50 because we have to pay for every seat in the venue. This means that if we don’t fill up entirely, we have to be able to pay for the extra seats as well. Should we end up with extra money at the end of the day all the extra money will be donated to the foundation to decrease worldsuck!

Hello fellow Nerdfighters, It has been a while and please excuse us for this, our lives took up way too much of our time but we're back in full force with the monthly overview of gatherings. April is going to be a great month with four gatherings so far: Divergent Gathering:

Divergent is coming out, so obviously we're going to go see that. The gathering has no set date, time or place yet voting is to be done on the facebook event*. We do know that this is a Dutch gathering with no Belgian counterpart so far. We will keep you posted on the developments!  

Arnhem Scavenger Hunt, April 5th:

I think we better quote the event organiser on this one:

"All the Nerdfighters attending shall be put into groups on a quest that shall take them through the basics of the city centre of Arnhem and the park next to it. Fresh Hobbitses might find themselves with some new friends here without feeling the overall pressure of a bigger group. For the second half of the afternoon, we can kick back in the sensation that is a good overload of Vitamin D at Sonsbeek. If not, we can simply conquer the V&D and claim their munchies. The third chapter of our whimsical adventure drops us in the den of a pizza place. Feast upon the souls of the dough that has been crafted just for you, or turn them into weapons and challenge your neighbours for a jousting match for the glory of tomato sauce. "

There are all sorts of arrangements being made such a group ticket from the NS to make for cheap travels and also dinner plans. All can be found on the facebook event*.

Nerdfighter Pub Meet, April 12th

This is a monthly gathering for people to get together in a city and go to a pub. Nerdfighters and beer, what could one need more? This month's edition is situated in Delft and will start at 19:00. There is also a facebook event* you can have a look at!

EFF Nerdfighter Meetup, April 19th

The Elf Fantasy Fair, no doubt about it, it'll be full of Nerdfighters, so let's find one another! The idea is to meet up at the fair, the current date has been set on the 19th but no greater detail have been arranged yet. The facebook event* can be found here (x)

So with four gatherings going on we'll know what to do this month.

Additionally we'd already like to promote one of the May gatherings since it'll be a big one. It is the yearly Antwerp gathering which is on it's third edition: Antwerp 3.0! There will be fun, games and probably food. The number of confirmed attendees is limited so far but there's a great number of people on "maybe" on the facebook event* so we are looking into the possibility of a venue and the logistics for dinner. For this one can also find the event on facebook with several polls and arrangements being made. By the time our next overview is sent everything will be set to go.
