A hiding space for my soul

But that’s bullshit.

That’s a lie broken people tell themselves to soften the pain of what they’ve lost.

Life doesn’t work that way.

Love doesn’t work that way.

If you truly love someone, if you truly want someone, you don’t just say it, you prove it.

You show up.

You keep working on it, again and again.

You don’t walk away saying, “you deserve better.”

You work on yourself to be better.

But it only works if both people carry the weight.

Both people have to fight for it.

And here’s where I learned my lesson:

I was pushing, trying, breaking myself open to make things work…

And I didn’t see that I was doing it alone.

You weren’t pulling the weight.

You weren’t even trying.

You chose the easy way out, saying things could never be the same, that I couldn’t change.

Well, honestly?

Fuck you.

I broke my own heart believing you’d fight for me,

believing you’d choose me the way I chose you.

How could I not believe it?

I always say actions speak louder than words, yet I was the first to fall for the words instead of the truth.
