Can you promise you can keep me safe?

takes a few steps down the hall towards the room.  she didn’t exactly need anything, just didn’t want to wander helena’s house.  ❝ no, i’m alright.  just wasn’t sure where you were.  kind of weird not being crammed with a bunch of people you know?  had a few staying at my house before…  well, before everything went to shit. ❞  being in helena’s house alone was going to feel very strange for allie.  even before they got stuck here, she’d never been alone.  either cass or her parents would be home, or she’d at least have the comfort of knowing they’d be coming home.  but not anymore.

Lusso couldn’t help but keep his eyes directly on Helena as she stepped up to him before the alter. The duke didn’t even take much notice of her father as he symbolically “gave away” his daughter. She was radiant and beaming at him. It was several seconds into the priest speaking that Lusso realized he had to listen to what was being said that he suddenly broke his gaze, cheeks flushed. 

He felt as though he might burst with so much excitement, still unable to focus on much of what was happening. He wanted to keep looking at Helena, as though worried this was a dream and she might vanish upon his waking. Instead Lusso kept track of highlights, movement from the man before them getting his attention again. 

The moment where they placed rings on each other’s fingers could not happen soon enough for him. Then Lusso would take her hand and not let go.

Helena barely even paid attention to her own father’s words as he ‘gave her away’ to Lusso, choosing instead to keep her eyes on him. After all, she knew what to say so well that she could recite it in her sleep, so she didn’t need to pay attention right at this moment. At least, that was how she felt. When he broke his gaze from hers, his cheeks seeming pinker than usual, she lightly bit the inside of her cheek to stifle her grin. This was the man she loved the man she was literally in the middle of marrying. Never was she more certain of that than she was in that moment.

Weeks of planning and rehearsals had led to this moment and as soon as the bride and her father, the king, stepped in through the double doors everyone was on the feet. 

Lusso found his breath taken away as he saw Helena in her gown, shimmering ever so slightly with the pearls sewn in. He thought she already looked like the queen she was to become, magically surrounded by sea foam. 

Staring with jaw slightly agape, Lusso snapped it closed and grinned as she stepped closer. He couldn’t see anything but her anymore, his beautiful bride.

Helena grinned right back at him, his own grin easing the tension in her body. She didn’t even know why, she was nervous, this was all she’d wanted since they’d gotten closer. But, then, she supposed she wasn’t nervous about the wedding, or scared about being married to him. She was, however, deeply concerned about the spectacle that would be made of it afterwards-especially in their marital bed, But for now, she wouldn’t focus on that, or on anything else around her for that matter.
