So at work I'm presiding over a "freakish" and "unusual" increase in business faced by the visitor center I run. Our visitation is up like 50% this summer, and the place we spend the most time out of the office is so busy the parking lot is filling up (previously unheard of). And yesterday we learned why: fucking ai.
So people go into the slop machine and say "give me a [park] itinerary that's off the beaten path and avoid crowds." Because the info in that shit pile is inherently out dated, the two other small visitor centers don't get recommended because they have both been closed frequently between 2020 and 2025, where as our little retro corner of paradise hasn't closed for more than 6 months since it opened in the 70s, and it's reviews online all day "off the beaten path" and "quiet." End result: we see like 1000 more people every day, the nearest entrance station is seeing like 1100 more cars, and we have to spend a huge amount of time fixing garbage bag itineraries for people who are absolutely not prepared to be here.
Good news is that this uptick means they are taking the idea of renovating our building to finally fucking be wheelchair accessible more seriously now.
And the millionaires aren't going anywhere, for the most part.
Excellent update on year 2 of this program:
Last May, we were very happy to report that the Millionaire Tax instituted in the state of Massachusetts was working out very well, not scaring off all of the rich people, and raising funds for necessary education and transportation initiatives. The state had raised $1.8 billion ā $800 million more than they predicted ā and none of the terrible things the naysayers had predicted happened at all. But how are things going a year later? Even better! The tax has now generated $3 billion more than expected, for a total of $5.7 billion that has been spent on projects that are positively benefiting Massachusetts residents and ābeing used to bridge repairs, bolster literacy programs and address the transportation systemās budget deficit.ā In case you need a refresher, the tax is a 4 percent tax on anything people make over a million dollars.
Official Post of Massachusetts
This article has a great way of framing tax alarmists for the hypocrites they are. Itās woven neatly through the whole article, but this quote really sums it up:
Sure, people complain. Rich people are always going to complain about taxes. But they never flee the way they threaten to, largely because whether or not they like to admit it, they prefer to live in the kinds of areas where things are made nicer by the taxes they donāt want to pay.
Tax the rich. Most of them wonāt notice and even more of them wonāt care
Keith Haring's story is usually told as a solo rise, but that version leaves out Angel "LA II" Ortiz, a Puerto Rican artist from the Lower East Side who collaborated with Haring from the very beginning. Angel was a teenager when they met, already active in the neighborhood's graffiti culture. He taught Keith how tagging worked on the street, painted alongside him, and guided him through spaces Keith did not come from. Angel's tags, infill, and visual language appear across works that later became associated with Keith Haring's public legacy.
After Keith Haring's death, the story changed. Museums mounted exhibitions, publishers released books, and merchandise entered the market under a single name.
In that process, Angel Ortiz was framed as hired labor instead of a collaborator, even though his work remains visible on paintings, sculptures, and objects shown in major institutions today. Angel has said openly that race played a role in his erasure, and photographer Clayton Patterson has explained how institutions chose a simpler version of the story that centered one white artist and removed a Puerto Rican collaborator. Angel Ortiz is still working as an artist today, and the time has come for the art world to give him clear credit for the work he helped createā¦yuliaxgon

This may be the best Pride merch I've seen from a major corporation.
Levi's said yes, actually. Assless chaps and a biker vest. Happy Pride.
And the assless chaps sold out on June 1.
They also specifically contacted members of the leather community, used them as models iirc, and donated $100k to Outright International. They talked the talk and walked the walk and put their money on it too. I don't really care that I can't afford and don't want this merch, I love to see my community getting the respect it deserves. Levi's said, "We make jeans which gays wear lots of jeans? Oh leather daddies? Let's call them."
I think Levi's donates to Outreach International every year too, as well as sponsoring pride events and other community support. They were offering Same Sex domestic partner benefits to employees in the 90s, and have been very public about their support for pro-lgbt legislation all through the 2000s.
So, you know, a giant corporation that walks the walk pretty consistently.
It is not nearly common enough knowledge that most Native tribes in the U.S. don't actually own all of the land within their reservation. There are millions of acres of reservation land that tribes don't legally own and they have no control over how that land is used. Like, there are a lot of different concepts tied in with the land back movement, but a major one is literally just getting reservation land back into tribal ownership.
So we know land back is Indigenous sovereignty Native agency and Indigenous stewardship yes. Land back is them respecting treaties they promised to respect ages ago but didnāt. Land back is them respecting the agreements they made with sovereign nations but broke instead. Land back is us going back to our ancestral lands. Land back is referring to Indigenous land by native names not colonizer ones. Land back isnāt a ethostate or deporting people Or whatever fever dream settlers have thatās cuz of settler colonizer projection and guilt.ļæ¼
āIf you're American, you've almost certainly heard about how Indigenous reservations were and are located on whatever land the US doesn't want anyway. That they're just a way to whisk away undesirables until the land becomes useful to the US. That's the two-state solution.āļæ¼
Two state solution is living side by side with people that tried to exterminate you with land theft genocide ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism When we say land back We mean all land stolen by settler colonizers Not just half of it to appease colonizers or respectability politicsļæ¼
āitās worth mentioning that the proposal of a ātwo-state solutionā is exactly what was offered to the Indigenous peoples of the Americas by European settler colonizers as a peaceful way to coexist.āļæ¼
Land back. Indigenous šŖ¶ agency, sovereignty, and stewardship. All land back. Turtle Island, HawaiŹ»i, Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), Sisam Moshir (Ainu term for mainland Japan), Ryukyu/Luchu (Okinawa), Samoa, Guahan (Guam), Papua, Ćire(Ireland), Alba (Scotland), BorikĆ©n (Puerto Rico), Maohi Nui (French Polynesia of Tahiti Bora Bora and Marquesan Islands,) Aotearoa (New Zealand), Palestine Etc. Etc. End to all settler states.ļæ¼
The Dom should be praised too
Take care of your doms. Praise them. Make them feel cared for and loved. Or you don't deserve them.
This applies doubly, x10 tbh, to transfemme doms. You NEED to be nice to her, you NEED to let her know she is doing a good job. That transfemme dom might have a lot of issues with her self worth, she may have been used up and left a discarded husk so many times.
Sorry but I got sick of scrolling through the notes on this on desktop and seeing all the red usernames marked by shinigami eyes reblogging this.
I'm a transfemme dom and I'm proud of it. Take care of us. Love us.
And then no one reblogged this version

Every single person I know who did football in high school, without exception, has a chronic injury. Many regret what it's done to their knees and back, even major organs like the brain.
There is no serious legislative push to ban high school football.
Also, like, if you want to talk about social pressure on minors to undertake activities that will result in regrettable, irreversible damage to their bodies:
No one, *ever*, tried to persuade me to transition.
My gym teacher tried to persuade me to try out for the football team almost every single day that I was in junior high.
#i firmly believe that the reason why concussions and brain damage in general#are not taken nearly as seriously as they should be#is because of football#if we take concussions and brain trauma seriously then we have to acknowledge the risks that children are undertaking at even#high school level football#but we can't do that#because the kids need to play football in high school so they can play football in college so they can join the NFL#This time I'm really gonna queue it.
I recently watched this video by hydn called āThe Great Concussion Denialā and holy fucking shit. Made me sick to my stomach. The tldr is that itās all the NFL pushing football on kids but thatās really diluting the story

imagining shane hanging out with his parents and while he's away from his phone doing something with his dad a call comes in. yuna sees this and goes, "shane, someone's calling you!"
and shane says, "who is it?"
"lily!"
"oh." shane immediately sets aside what he's doing and walks over, saying to his mom, "that's ilya."
yuna looks at him in confusion as he picks up his phone. "why is ilya saved as 'lily' in your phone?"
and shane looks at her, away, shrugs as if it's obvious and simply says, "I can't have ilya rozanov saved on my phone, mom" before answering the call with a, "hey, baby" and walking away.
leaving yuna (and david) standing shocked and, once again, shaken at how little they knew about their son and the layers of concealment he's had to operate under for years just to love who he loves.
