i bought an echeveria because when I saw it on the shelf, it reminded me of your fanfics. i don't know how to take care of succulents. does this make you a co-parent of my succulent?

i love echeveria!! my bathroom is actually covered in plants, including succulents. i like to buy them mostly dead for like a dollar and then bring them back. my whole house used to have plants all over it but. well. gestures at cats
for succulents, you’ll want to make sure you have a well-draining soil. root rot and overwatering will be the thing that kills them. i usually get cactus dirt, since it’s already pre-mixed and i dont have to think about it too much. also make sure you have it in a draining pot (one with a hole on the bottom). when i put new babies in a new pot i’ll put some little rocks around the drainage hole to make sure it doesnt get clogged up.
it’s been a long while since i had echevaria, but if theyre like aloe (which i propagate all over the place), you can feed them about two once a quarter or so with cactus food and they’ll do really well. make sure you keep it somewhere bright, and water it only when the soil gets dry.

I did have a quick question though, how did you figure out how to write text messages into the story and have it look so natural? (I've been trying to figure out my own way of doing it and nothing is working)
On that note, would it be okay for me to use your technique for writing out text messages in my stories? (I will credit you in the author's notes if you give the okay) Totally get if you would prefer if I came up with my way of writing it out, just figured I would ask :) Thank you! <3

there are soooo many different ways to do texting in fics, youre not kidding. i experimented with a few different ones that communicated what needed to be communicated (person’s name, time, what they were saying) and how to balance it looking good but also being obviously different from regular text BUT ALSO being accessible for people who use screen readers. i ended up with the style i have largely by taking imessage and LINE and smushing them together. glad to hear it works!

specifically bayverse!leo learning all the places you like to be kissed
it starts with your forehead, because it screams of all the tenderness he feels now that he's allowed himself to have you, close to the eyes that have haunted him for months. he watches as your eyelids flutter shut as he gets close, your eyelashes little crescents on your cheekbones and your chin tilting up so he'll know you want it. oh it burns the first few times, until it's just how he greets you, no matter how long you've been apart; a day, a week, a trip to the fridge for a second beer.
then he finds your cheek and jaw, and oh, you make such pretty frustrated noises when he kisses there, like you think he's missed where he should be going. it makes him press smug smiles to your skin as often as kisses, earning him a jab or two in the side as you scuttle away and pout; only to come back as easily as breathing when he grasps your wrist, like you're perpetually orbiting him now and his gravity always claims you close.
your mouth is next, and oh how he loves your mouth. all the shapes you make with it, all the ways you tell him you love him without using words. the laughs at his jokes, the smirks when you wear something blue and just a little too-short, the pouts when he kisses you quick and pulls away. he loves kissing you with little pecks, with slow and languid caresses of lips, wet and deep with tongue as you get so close he's not sure if you'll ever pull apart again or if you're just together like this now.
up your spine in the morning, brushing little kisses to wake you and draw that slow smile that makes his heart pound. at your knee before he hooks your thigh onto his hip. against your nape when you stand over the kitchen sink washing the cups, wondering if you still taste like tea. down your wrist when you play mindlessly with the tails of his mask, eyes on your phone but heart in his hands.
someday, he thinks, he might find your favorite, but he's quite sure he'll never find his.

I have a question that I haven't really been able to work well for it to make sense.
Here goes
Were Leo's one-sided feelings always going to be a thing? Or was it something that came by developing him during the story? Do you think is just something that happens when you write for Leo, that it somehow ends on his feelings being always a bit more romantic lean? Or do you think, if it had been Leo centric symphony, while writing Donnie in Leo's position, it would've also turned to be on that one-sideness? Is it Leo's personality or just the position he is in-in the story?
Does any of this makes sense.
i think i understand what youre asking? i will answer what i interpret and you can follow up if needed!
putting this under a spoiler cut 👉👉
first, a clarification: when you refer to “leo’s one-sided feelings” being romantic in the fic it depends on which leo youre talking about.
bad future symphony!leo canonically was in love with his viola-chan.
symphony!leo is not canonically in love with his viola-chan.
s!leo’s canon feelings for viola-chan are that of envy (up until about chapter 19), then friendship (chapter 20+). his feelings being romantic in nature or not are intentionally left ambiguous. whether there’s more to it or not is for interpretation, and i’ve put breadcrumbs throughout for both a platonic and a romantic read of the text. have fun and debate that shit to the ground!
both of these were my plan from the beginning. if you look at early discussions with casey, he is explicitly uncomfortable with the idea of viola-chan getting “too close” to leo. this is because he knows how future!viola-chan died, and how bfs!leo felt about his viola-chan. he also kind of drops the ball and mentions bfs!leo’s feelings a bit (which was done for two reasons: one, to act as a red herring and make you think s!leo feels romantic feelings for viola-chan, and two, to reveal that bfs!leo did indeed have those feelings). i also use dialogue from the early part of the fic to set up parallel conversations. bfs!leo and s!leo say the same things…… but also not. they come from a different place, both literally and figuratively.
i personally think that s!leo is in love with viola-chan, but again, that’s not explicit in the text and therefore not canon. there won’t be a canon b-sides of leo pining. i may write it for fun, but that would be a separate thing.
hopefully that clears that up. as for the question of me always writing a romantic leo, that certainly isn’t the case. i actually don’t really like love triangles! if it is a donnie only fic, it will have donnie having feelings and no one else, and vice versa for leo fics. i’m a hopeless romantic who wants the pining to be reciprocated and resolved at the end.
that said, occasionally i will write what i call a “blurple” fic, which is where an insert-chan might be in a poly relationship dating both leo and donnie at the same time. those are fun, but truth be told i usually prefer monogamous fics because i am a super sucker for otp happily ever after type romance stories.
