I am bored so I’m starting a tag game!

what languages do you speak? Do you have just one first language/language spoken when you were little? Multiple? Do you still speak them? How about ones you learned later? Are you fluent? that sort of thing

I’ll start! My first language is English, but I’ve been learning Spanish for five years and counting and I consider myself mostly fluent (not native level by any means but I can read/listen/write/speak well enough, and my abilities there aren’t much worse than in English, though my vocabulary is definitely less robust). I know a bit of French from my mom and middle school, and can figure some other things out à la Spanish. I can also swear in six languages (I don’t but I could lol)

My first language is english, most specifically Australian english (which is the rebelious teenager love child of British english and American english) (1)

I've been learning German for almost three years now and I can get by but I'm nowhere near fluent. (.5)

I also know the entire alphabet and some various other words in Auslan (Australian Sign Language [because we can't also be ASL]) (.1)

Also one of my friends speaks russian as their first language so I know various phrases in russian (.1)

So i actually know 1.7 languages spread out across 4.

well, i'm super boring because i can only speak english lol. i dropped spanish last year because i'm terrible at talking to people (it was basically just: words on paper good, words out of mouth bad). i've also been meaning to start learning auslan for the LONGEST time, but i've never gotten around to it...

But kinda random but you'd be SHOCKED by how many times I've been asked if I have Spanish as my first language and English as a second language (I have a Very American Accent and if I tried to do any other accents it'd be easily seen as disrespectful 😅😅😅) (it's prob cuz I'm biracial black and white, I guess I look like I speak Spanish)

I kinda know french since it gets taught at school but I don't know it THAT good, still 2 years of learning so I'll know it a bit better then I suppose

i only know english (#usamerican) so i guess ill elaborate on the little other languages im familiar with and say that i have the faintest grasp on spanish… extremely limited vocabulary but i could probably get thru a picture book with the gist of it.

ive also picked up a very very very small amount of japanese but not enough to do anything with it. in the future when i get my crap together i really want to take an actual class. probably japanese (because like 70% of the fandoms im in are mostly active in japan) but i think spanish would be really fun too

iiii am only completely fluent in english (native language. what the heck is a kilometer)

i have tried to learn french, polish, japanese, and asl but i think i got the most progress in japanese and french. i gave up on french and polish though. dont even get me STARTED on polish that was way too hard for me

i lowkey forgot most of what i learned of french and can only remember basic things such as "es tu blah blah blah" BUT dont get the wrong idea i didn't really know that much anyways (i was using duolingo.)

i am still very much interested in learning japanese and asl though!! for now i only know extremely basic phrases in japanese, i only know 4-5 kanji, but i can read most hiragana and a few katakana. i cant write most of the letters without looking at a reference though i still am working on that. i only know a few basic signs in asl such as bathroom, mom, dad, and im still working on memorizing the letter system
