For my current one, I came up with the nickname "Nes" as the one I wanted to use online, since prior to this I didn't really have one. I kept trying to find good, memorable, unique tags, and one day came up with the idea to use a common cryptid name but tweak it to make it my own! Thus, the unique title of loch-nes-dragon was born.

I hate when people compare whitewashing characters to "blackwashing" a different character like making a character who is white black for your art could just be a personal headcanon or help you kind of relate to the character more
Idk but either way it is not harmful because white people are not predominantly oppressed or discriminated against for the colour of our skin black people and brown people have faced discrimination throughout history and still very much do now because of that same factor
So my point is making a white character black is harmless but making a black character white is erasure representation is important to show everyone they should exist and shouldn't be discriminated against or oppressed.
White people don't need representation to show us and others this because we don't face oppression and we are already represented in everything. White has become the "norm" for characters in western media, when it only represents a percentage of people in western society.
I saw two comments on Reddit talking about the finale of TADC, and I felt I had to share it with other people on here.

Why Jax is the most realistic portrayal of ‘A Person Who Is Not Okay ™️’
We all know who Jax is, especially after the finale. Someone who was betrayed, abandoned and so abused she never trusted anyone, even Ribbit, ever again.
Because of that trauma, Jax became outwardly cruel to other people, so no one could get close to her. Especially from Episode 2 to the halfway point, which showed her really close to abstracting, so it was easy to hate on her.
However, now that we got Jax’s backstory, which made her story a realistic interpretation of a person who isn’t okay, it makes people pretty peeved, because that means the people in their own lives are also people battling their own demons and have nuances of their own instead of it being ‘oh, this person is irredeemable’ or ‘Oh this person is just a bad guy’
Often times, this thought process makes sense when you don’t know what someone’s going through. When you don’t know why a person is the way they are, it’s easy to paint them in broad strokes because it helps establish that you didn’t deserve the pain they gave you.
The mature perspective is that the same people that hurt you aren’t simply irredeemable monsters, but also people who have been hurt and are trying to cope with it.
Mental health discourse and how it relates to Jax’s situation.
I’ll preface this next question by saying there are valid reasons to why mental health discourse is seen as the way it is.
Back in yesteryear, people with mental health conditions were often seen as monsters and chucked into asylums, or often lobotomized and drugged.
So of course, people’s views shifted from ‘people with mental health issues are dangerous’ to the other side of the spectrum, which is ‘people with mental health issues are innocent’
I am not saying people with mental health issues aren’t people. They are often struggling and adding more problems on top of that doesn’t help. However, it skewed to defending people with mental health issues without also acknowledging that people with terrible mental health can also become terrible as a result.
That doesn’t mean ‘oh all people with mental illnesses / conditions are bad,’ it simply means that people with mental conditions are people like the rest of us, and should also be held accountable in the same way, instead of being painted in broad strokes

I’ll start! My first language is English, but I’ve been learning Spanish for five years and counting and I consider myself mostly fluent (not native level by any means but I can read/listen/write/speak well enough, and my abilities there aren’t much worse than in English, though my vocabulary is definitely less robust). I know a bit of French from my mom and middle school, and can figure some other things out à la Spanish. I can also swear in six languages (I don’t but I could lol)

well, i'm super boring because i can only speak english lol. i dropped spanish last year because i'm terrible at talking to people (it was basically just: words on paper good, words out of mouth bad). i've also been meaning to start learning auslan for the LONGEST time, but i've never gotten around to it...

I’ll preface what I’m about to say with a disclaimer: not all students who excel at school are anything like what I’m about to say here. There are students who performed well in school, and perform well in life.
But there are people who are honor students, who earned PhDs in university, who have the best grades out of their entire class, yet beyond that, there’s nothing there.
There isn’t any depth, any awareness, any ability to think for themselves outside of that.
This isn’t a matter of blaming only the parents, even if the parents haven’t taught them skills that are useful in life.
The blame lies within the school system, especially in America. It rewards obedience, and it programs students to memorize, to perform, and to play the game correctly.
The lie that grades = intelligence has gone on for way too long. A letter or a number grade on a paper, or in a database never measured that. Because intelligence wasn’t ever about getting a good grade, it’s about how you adapt when things don’t go according to plan, how to learn from mistakes, and how you treat people.
I’ve fallen to this lie as well, everyone has. But it’s remembering that grades only measure school performance, not intelligence, that is the key point.
You could have a model student, who got straight A’s in every subject, and graduated with a Master’s or a PhD in university, but their entire personality is hidden behind rehearsed language with an ego built on top of it. It only goes on as long as it has because the system rewards those kinds of people anyways.
TLDR: grades don’t always equal intelligence, they equal how good you performed in school. Outside of school, a grade doesn’t measure your intelligence, but how you adapt to situations that don’t go your way, or how you learn from mistakes is the defining factor.
