Powdered Eggshells can be used in your magical workings to cast circles or for protection.

Completely cover the object in salt. This is likely to erase any enchantment if the object is left covered for several days. Any kind of salt will do.

Wrap the object in an opaque black cloth. This is not likely to erase any enchantments.

Take a box with a lid and paint the interior black. If you are free to do so, place strongly protective and balancing symbols on the exterior, such as the pentagram or equilateral cross. Place the object inside and close the lid. This is not likely to erase any enchantments.

Make a box out of tinfoil, striving to keep each plane as flat and smooth as possible. It may be easier to line a small box with tinfoil. Ensure the shiniest side of the tinfoil reflects within. Of course, it must have a lid. Place the object inside. This is not likely to erase any enchantments.

The Money altar is an Intent Altar, used to continuously create a flow of money energy in the home or business. It can be an entire spell in of itself, or rather an area used entirely for the workings of money magick, spellwork and spirituality. So let's walk through some things in line with the money altar:

A money altar represents two main energies

Abundance, be it in the form of money, customers, raises, promotions etc.

Growth and expansion - you're either seeking to stabilize or improve your financial situation, so having the energy of growth in this situation is good to expand your money, your business, your profits and prospects.

So with these two in mind, what can we use:

Growing plants such as a Jade Plant to represent the growth of money. Not only that, it's a consisent growth of money. So long as the plant is maintained, so too shall the energy of growth and financial abundance be maintained.

Incenses such as Cinnamon, Come to Me, Call Money, Basil, Block Buster, Good Fortune, an incense dedicated towards a deity you associate with money, any good Solar or Jupiterian Incense, Dragon's Blood for emergency issues.

Dirt from a bank, you can even add the dirt to your potting soil of the Money Plant you have on the altar to further strengthen the cause of money growing.

A money bowl - I will look for a good post on the money bowl.

Candles - I will always stick to the fact that Green is general money, yellow is business opportunities, customers and contracts, red is for emergency money, brown is for luck, salaries and all business matters.

Crystals such as citrine, lodestones, magnets, clear quartz, pryite, green aventurine.

Items such as bowls of rice, salt, coins, gold leaf, a glass of water to promote spiritual flow and communion, sugar, fava beans, sigils of deities, spirits or demons you work with, woods like oak and so on.

Tarot cards such as Ace of Pentacles (for windfall, new opportunities, luck, divine gifts), Nine of Pentacles (for any works relating to agriculture but also for growing a business, empires etc. also good for wineries, breweries and business that serve beverages), eight of pentacles (for artisan crafts, also developing a good reputation at work and obtaining promotions, raises, acknowledgement from higher ranks etc.), 10 of Pentacles ( a strong business, customers, good profits, employees etc.)

Good numbers in Money Altars are 7 (generally considered a number of magic, manifestation, good luck, money magick, blessings), 4 (stability, protection, hearth and home, practicality).

Colours such as gold, red, green, brown, purple.

Other items such as keys, clovers, talismans, charms, petitions, petition ribbons, cups of coffee, money jars, oils, bills (the way I view this is that by putting the bills on the altar and working with them, I'm able to tap into the energy of money to remedy the bill), solar images, jupiter images, lucky animals.

Times to work the Money Altar

At least every Thursday. Major rituals can be done at the New Moon or at the beginning of Every Month.

How to Work the Money Altar

Get a ribbon in an appropriate colour - such as red for emergencies, green for general money, gold for cash, abundance, raises, yellow for luck, money, brown for business matters, business partners etc - and write your name on it. Bind it onto the altar stating your desire. When your desire has been fulfilled, take the ribbon off and give thanks.

Place your morning cup of coffee on the altar for a couple of minutes before drinking it.

Keep a small box with wealth symbols and put loose change and notes in there for the upkeep of the altar - what you put in you get out. So if you work with the altar, the altar will work with you. This is just one way of doing it.

Place a few notes underneath an incense burner with either Call Money or Come to Me incense.

Each week, make a ritual to honour the deities on the altar. Replenish any offerings, open any sigils, renew any pacts or spells.

Do all your budgets and financial matters near the altar or in front of it.

Burn candles, keep money jars, money oils and so on, on the altar.

Place all your talismans and amulets on the altar to charge.

It's fairly well known that you can read tarot by taking out the major arcana cards and only using those 22 cards for a spread.

However, you can divide the deck up in all sorts of ways. This is called reading with a restricted deck. Usually, you will separate the deck out into suits and only choose which suits are relevant to the question at hand.

Everyone has their own meaning for what the suits indicate, these are mine and they are fairly common :) (see more about using suits to read in this other post!)

Pentacles reveal income and money, home life, all domestic issues, family, and platonic relationships.

Cups reveal emotions, romantic relationships, subjective experiences, and personal need.

Swords reveal mindset, objectivity, professional relationships, pain, and difficult or professional (“it’s just business”) choices.

Wands reveal passions, desires, boundaries, sexual relationships, burdens, and choices borne out of inner need.

So for example, if you are reading a question about the future of someone's romantic relationship when they move in with their partner, you can choose to take out all of the Pentacles and Cups and only use those 2 suits for the reading!

Or if you want to identify a person (identity/role/behavior), you can take all the court cards out of the deck and only draw one of them.

You can split the deck and read a special 5-card spread, where you draw 1 card from each pile (the four suits + major arcana) for each card position for an overview of the person's life in that moment.

Chase the hare around the blackberry bush- this won't end well and you know it won't end well so don't even try it.

Tell the bees - notifying the insects of a good news or bad new in the family so that the bees could share in the joy or mourning.

Acting a fawn - being shy.

lil imp - when someone is being mischievous.

Trust the trees - have faith.

Bees in the brain - you're being dumb.

Run the rabbit round the rose bush - if it sounds to good to be true then it is.

All bone and brimstone - very bad news

Knock on wood - hope the good spirits in trees keep you safe.

The vixen's bite is always right - always trust your instincts.

Don't be a dillweed - don't be a jerk.

A watched pot never boils - take your mind off things, time will pass anyway.

What is a poppet?: A poppet is a doll used to aid a witch by representing a person to help channel spells to that person more easily. 

How are they made?: Poppets are created with carved root, grain or corn shafts, a fruit, paper, wax, a potato, clay, branches, or cloth stuffed with herbs. They are made with the intent that any actions performed on the doll will be transferred to the person attached

What makes them different from voodoo dolls?: Well, to understand this I need to talk about voodoo dolls a bit more, so let’s do that for a bit

What are voodoo dolls?: Technically, they are figures that utilize the magickal process known as gris-gris, and can be used as a religious object or a superstitious one depending on how the user treats it. 

“The voodoo doll is usually a small, soft doll representing a person, though the extent of physical detail may vary. This doll, lying alone on a table, is no different from any other type of doll. However, the sharp pins which accompany the doll make it a voodoo doll. The person handling the doll has complete control over the doll, and can push the pins into the entirety of its soft body, attaching strands of hair or the name of the subject to the doll. The concept rests on this body being the material incarnation of a person, although religious usage of the voodoo doll uses outside spirits.” - The Voodoo doll By brown.edu

What is gris-gris: A gris-gris’ definition is nuanced– it can either be the magical act or the object used for magic, or even both.

With all this in mind, poppets can represent any form of intent by its user, good or bad, whereas voodoo dolls are typically used for spiritual purposes. The main visual difference is that a voodoo doll will have pins in it, giving the user complete control over the doll and, ergo, the material person. 

What do I do with it?: Here’s some easy things to do with poppets all found from the website learnreligions.com on an article called “Using Magical Poppets and Dolls” written by  By Patti Wigington. **Please note that the front image shown in this website is of a voodoo doll, not a poppet, which is evident by the pins. 

1. To Get a Job You’ve Applied For

Material: satin, green or gold or silver

Herbs: clover, chamomile, ginger, cinnamon

Gemstones: snowflake obsidian or sodalite

Create a poppet to represent yourself. As you make it, focus on the positive attributes that you possess which will make you appealing to a potential employer. Another option is to create the poppet in the image of the employer (include business cards or letterhead inside, if you can get them) and tell the employer poppet why you’re the best person for the job.

2. To Protect Your Family

Material: Modeling clay

Herbs: Basil, patchouli, coffee

Gemstones: Hematite, amethyst, black onyx.

Create poppets that represent each member of the family, blending herbs and stones into the clay. Put them in a safe place in your home, such as near your hearth, and utilize magical shielding or cast a circle of protection around them. This is actually a fun project you can get your kids involved in as well — let them each make their own poppet person!

3. To Heal a Sick Person

Material: White cotton or unbleached muslin

Herbs: Lemon balm, feverfew, ivy, and pine.

Gemstones: Bloodstone, turquoise

When you make this poppet, be sure to indicate what you are trying to heal, whether it’s a case of tennis elbow, a chronic infection, or even a broken heart. Focus all of your energy on the ailment in question.

4. To Bring Love Into Your Life

Material: Red or pink silk or cotton

Herbs: Rose petals, parsley, and peppermint

Gemstones: Barite, jade, rose quartz

Make a poppet to represent the object of your affection — remember that in some magical traditions it is frowned upon to make a specific person the target of your working. If you are simply trying to attract love to yourself, but you don’t have a specific person in mind, focus on all the desirable qualities you want to see in a potential lover.

5. Silencing a Gossip

Material: Ground beef or other squishy meat

Herbs: Horseradish, pepper, rue, yarrow, valerian

Shape the meat and herbs into a person, and create a “meat puppet” in the same way you’d make a fabric one. As you make the doll, tell it that it’s time to be silent, and tell no more gossipy stories. Remind it that people who can’t say nice things shouldn’t say anything at all. Dispose of the doll by either burning it on your grill and burying it someplace far away, feeding it to your dog, or leaving it out in the sun to rot.

6. Emergency Poppet on the Fly

Material: Aluminum foil

Perhaps something has come up in a hurry, and you feel it needs immediate magical attention. Use a piece of aluminum foil to whip together a quickie poppet — shape it into the figure of a person. Fill with any magical components that might be handy — bits of wood, dirt, grass, even a name scribbled on a piece of paper — and personalize the poppet.

1. Astro.com

This site by far is the most accurate site I’ve used. Ever. Not only does it have multiple systems in place but it’s pretty much one of the only places that houses an elephantine catalog of asteroids and fixed points. The have an astro.wiki that’s basically an encyclopedia of all things astrology. Articles by noted astrologers such as Liz Greene, Robert Hand, Dana Gerhardt, etc. Even a free horoscope section. Very thorough. If you’re one of these astrologers who doesn’t like to use the natal wheel- it’ll allow you to pull up a more comprehensible grid. A1 IMO.

2. AstroSeek

It’s almost as thorough as astro.com. Has a grid to show dominant elements and planets. My only issue with it is it can get pretty bulky and crowded- so it’s not easy on the eyes. I also feel like the algorithm they use can cause issues for people based on the asks I get in my inbox. It is sufficient for pulling up aspects and giving you and overview of what they mean. I use it more for the moon calendar however which is FABULOUS.

3. Cafe Astrology

The calculator that first got me started in all this. So nostalgia has a lot to do with this ranking. However, I still use it for quick pulls/when I don’t have someone’s birth time for brief run downs. The downside of it is that it doesn’t always pull up every aspect. According to my research/deductive reasoning, I think it omits aspects above a certain orb. I like getting the fine print so for someone with a Jupiter in Virgo- it can be extremely irritating feeling like you’re not getting all the details. It does however give you a synopsis on all your placements which is great for beginners. It also has a wealth of knowledge on placements as well.

4. AstroCharts

Last on my list. It’s more geared toward appearing aesthetically pleasing I feel. I love how it shows users the current planetary transits- it also displays chart patterns which are good for those starting out wanting to learn- however it does not give you a description of things like many of the other sites do. Of course, if you’re a seasoned astrologer this is not a problem- but many who are just starting out will fall prey to the 100 tabs open fate trying to pull up meanings of aspects. This can be exhausting. Great for empirical research on celebrities if you’re wanting to analyze and cross reference for research purposes or curiosity. Otherwise, this is a decent resource.

Nasa.gov

I have so much respect for Nasa. We know much about the planets thanks to their genius aeronautical research. Nasa gives well researched knowledge on planetary movements and though, not necessarily astrology- give great insight on the movement of the celestial bodies. They have a handy resource called “watch the skies” where they cover eclipses, equinoxes, conjunctions, asteroid movements, storms on planets, and not to mention all the great visual resources they provide. Though many like to separate the two- I believe astronomy and astrology walk hand in hand. And because Nasa puts science first, you’ll always get a pretty accurate numerical breakdown on things.

1. Costar.

No bueno. That is all. Way too many inaccuracies. Rising signs incorrect. Houses and planets in the wrong place/sign. Checked my friend’s phone and looked at her chart to cross-reference and it was morbidly incorrect- even with accurate birth information and all. Had to reject a job offer from them because of it. Business not personal.

2. Alabe

The server is updated weekly with more books, all of which are vetted by experienced practitioners and organized in an easy to consume way.

This isn’t a weird question, don’t worry! There are actually quite a few placements that can indicate natural magical talent or a predisposition towards witchcraft.

The ‘Rusting Ring’ binding is a binding spell created for those who need a little.. push in the right direction, to see how their actions are harming those around them. This binding is not affected by any wards or protective spells, cannot be traced back to the caster, and cannot be ‘returned to sender’. This is extremely powerful and should only be used when absolutely necessary. 

You will need;

A glass jar.

Black candle / wax

Vinegar

Hydrogen Peroxide

Water

Red String

Taglock

A ring

Cleanse yourself and your space. Cast any protection magic you deem fit before beginning. If you veil, veil. If you use a protection circle, cas one before beginning. 

Begin by grounding yourself. Take the taglock of the person and place it into the jar while saying “[Name], you are the recipient of this binding.” If binding multiple people, repeat this process with their names. The binding will not be diluted. 

Once you have done this, take the string. If binding a single person, you are going to create ten knots. If binding multiple people, you are going to do the same.

“With the first knot, this binding is cast.” “With the second knot, this binding is untraceable.” “With the third knot, this binding cannot be returned to the caster.” “With the fourth knot, this binding is not stopped by wards or protective spells.” “With the fifth knot, [Name]’s life will become undone.” “With the sixth knot, [Name] will be their own demise.” “With the seventh knot, [Name] will see the truth.” “With the eighth knot, [Name] will make amends.” “With the ninth knot, [Name] will change and remember their actions.” “With the tenth knot, this binding is permanent until [Name] sees the truth, makes amends, and actively changes their actions.”

Once you have knotted the string, take your ring and begin wrapping the string around it. Say the following.

“This binding is tied to those who have taglocks, and no one else. This binding will not be released until all the stated conditions are met.” Once the string has been completely wrapped, secure it. You are then going to pour equal parts hydrogen peroxide and vinegar into the jar, until they reach about a quarter of the way full. Fill up the rest of the jar with water. Drop the ring into the mixture, and state the following.

“As this ring rusts, the binding will grow stronger. [Name]’s life will continue to unravel, by their own undoing, until [Name] sees the truth, makes amends, and actively changes their actions.”

Seal the binding with black wax. As you seal it, say the following: “With this black seal the binding is complete. I am protected from any backlash, and this binding cannot be traced or returned to me.”

I saw some posts and accounts that really bummed me out tonight. Some people are so proud to be transphobic and it’s disgusting. I’m terrified that I accidentally follow some TERFS without realizing it.
