"Sapeur Congo" refers to members of La Sape (society of ambience makers and elegant people) a subculture in Brazzaville and Kinhasa were individuals dress in extravagant, high-fashion clothes.

Originating during the colonial era, the Sape movement has evolved as a form of cultural expression, social commentary, and a way to express dignity and confidence in the face of poverty. Sapeurs are known for their creative use of bright colors and stylish, branded clothing, creating a vibrant contrast with their humble surroundings.
