Yknow, after seeing Project Hail Mary I was fully expecting this website to be all over shipping Grace and Rocky, so to instead find that everyone has agreed that Grace is an aroace icon and he and Rocky are platonic soulmates is a real fun change of pace that is still oh so very tumblr

the little foot stomps when he says question, which is something he does every time but are infused with actual frustration while he interrogates grace

the sulky way he says no again and again when grace tries to get him to give him a thumbs up

the way grace's voice breaks when we says "we got stars to save."

"need word. to risk self to save other." / "dumb." and then writes brave with this sort of painful pride because he doesnt know yet

the way grace steps away to have a moment to himself

rocky doing the math on his claws. "i can give. i go home six years slower."

the resolve in rocky's voice when he says he couldnt fix his crew but he can fix this, and grace go home

the way grace's breath hitches when he breaks down

I love that Robert likes to fuck with people. I can see him fucking with Flambae the most too, lol. Like, he's so deadpan all of the time, and the team rarely sees him smile except for small earnest ones when he's being sincere. So maybe Robert sees Flambae looking in his direction after he sassed him on comms and decides to fuck with him by grinning super wide. Flambae flinches like it's a jumpscare and looks haunted, looking around to see if anyone saw what just fucking happened, but no one did. When Flambae confronts him about it, Robert just looks at him cooly and says, "No one will ever believe you." And walks away.

What then follows is Robert every so often flashing a deranged wide grin at Flambae when no one else is looking and Flambae is quickly going insane because no one believes him when he rants about it. And the one time Flambae gets the idea to take a screenshot from the security cameras, Robert has already scrubbed the evidence away. Eventually Flambae gives up, apologizing for being difficult and begging Robert to just quit it, and maybe let's slip that a genuine nice smile would look way prettier on his face, which actually does make Robert give him a gentle smile. This causes Flambae to attack his mouth and somewhere in there they agree to go get lunch together.
