How did you learn anatomy and how to render so well? I wondered if you took classes or if you’re purely self-taught. Everything is so expressive and just genuinely beautiful, I hope one day I’ll be able to draw even closely like you.
I learned anatomy by looking mostly, occasionally i will get up and try the full range of my own limbs, to see how far things realistically can turn.
Artists will say this a lot, I will say this a lot,
watch and learn. I find images or such with examples of what i wanna learn how to draw, and i will draw the image myself. i will do this over and over until i feel ready to apply this to my art, then i will draw the same thing over and over again until i feel confident in using the new learned skill.
I never took classes, though i wish i did. I applied to an art university where i didn't get in, and since then i have kinda stood by the fact that i can and will learn art myself, regardless of if i get an education in it or not. (besides, i am in bio analytics now)
for renders i do the same, occasionally i will do easy versions of images where i just block out where base colors and basic shadows should be.
When i draw and render cars, 60% of the time it looks shit. the reason for this is because i do the base colors, then add some of the blurry colors and then i work on adding all the detail and lighting and reflections i want. little by little it comes together and starts looking nice.
It looks shit until you've added enough to it, so to say
don't give up cause what you make looks like shit, just keep working on it
Said by many and to be said again, don't be afraid of mistakes, look at them and locate the mistake, and then draw it again trying to fix it
anatomy books btw can also help on knowing how muscles turn and bones act in accordance to eachother when drawing, but all in all, alot of work is put into line weight, when lines start and stop, what you like to enhance and emphasize in your art etc etc.
its trial and error until you get something you agree with a little bit, then you hold onto it and work out more you agree with
like making a hole in a mountain, first its a hole, keep digging and you have a shelter, keep expanding and you have a cave, refine and you have a home i suppose. something like that, ideally just keep working is what
