I know for a fact that there is a challenge to travel between the two closest adjacent stations in Tokyo by going the long way round (like 200+ stations) and you can only attempt it once per year on new years and since they operate nonstop that day and you need all 48-ish hours to do that. It costs like 130 yen to do that.

Well you see, some stations serve ramen/undon/soba at the platforms. There's also NewDays Kiosk convenience stores too on the platforms if that isn't an option. You could probably get off, buy something, and get back on the same train if you really wanted to.
