people loveee spewing mental health matters until the mentally ill person in question has disabilities or qualities they can’t palate to, or fix. A lot of neurotypical and able-bodied folk like to use ‘mental health is important’ when referring to their own mental struggle, until someone with a diagnosis shows up, they suddenly dont support. this is especially common for disabled people who also have mental illness. I get flamed a lot for this myself, because i have EDS, a physical chronic illness that ruined most of my active athletic life, and my body is quite literally a danger to itself. I also struggle with Audhd along with that, which makes it difficult to care for myself physically, often causing me to not brush my teeth daily, or shower at a constant rate without encouragement or aid. Despite me sometimes using a cane, knee braces, ankle supports, and proper care, i still get a lot of comments about being disgusting for struggling with these things, and its often from those who will never have issues like that. Majority of people who like to bash the mentally ill who struggle with cleanliness like myself hardly ever do try and advocate for those who need it. Most of those people will completely disregard grander issues, like hoarding, or never leaving home. I’m on the highly functioning spectrum, and i still face a lot of ableism over it. People are often disgusted by those who are not only disabled, but also plus sized. While idolizing being thin people (especially those who should not be 70lbs.) Neurotypical+able bodied people really just dislike anyone who has a disability that isn’t conventional, or easy enough to understand. They love faking them too. Especially disorders like Autism, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, D.I.D, and OCD. These people are the same folk that think Unified Sports are stupid, and use the R-Slur, and the C-slur. i will never understand them.
