her name is diamond. she's a river dragon and used to be a princess like lyra, and they were once betrothed (set up by their parents). but diamond's family lost their home and status and lyra's parents are dead now so that kinda fell through. she still insists she's going to marry lyra (and wants to, to rebuild her own social status) but that doesnt stop her from being resentful and antagonistic about it. if this were a cartoon she'd be the mean rival girl who turns out to have a shitty home life

usually i wouldn't feel the need to go to this extent to show my process, but this is a piece that i sell at conventions that have a strong anti-ai policy, which is a great thing more cons are doing! with that in mind, if i'm accused of using ai to create my work, it could threaten my ability to sell at conventions in the future and make a living off of my work. as someone who is also incredibly anti-ai, i want to make sure people put those efforts where it's actually relevant instead of putting other artists at risk.
