similar topic but it's so funny to me when people are like "you can't ship these people one of them is the other's father figure!" as if wanting to fuck a father figure isn't the only joy left in this life
I've seen many Lando fans wondering why he is disliked, or even hated, amongst the majority of the F1 audience nowadays. He has a talent of pissing off the supporters of various drivers on the grid, so I thought I would compile a masterpost of sorts of the main reasons why.
To start off, Lando's comments last year on the current and extremely controversial "Grab her by the pussy" President Trump:
People were rightly outraged, but Lando himself has also made misogynistic comments. Such as this stream on twitch:
where even his own friend Max Fewtrell recognises the bad language and tries to get him to stop "That one? Can we stop talking about it like that?" [...] Stop mate!"
And if you're thinking oh, that was years ago, he's changed - here's a similar comment from 3 months ago, referring to a girl being in the kitchen:
Okay...so he's sexist. But what about his actual job? Well, he keeps that shitty attitude towards his competitors.
Empathy? Lando doesn't know her!
Take his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo. When he was struggling he famously said:
Which pissed off Daniel fans.
Drivers almost passing out from heatstroke? Well, as Lando said "they don't know [my situation].":
Again, Max F, aware of how this sounds, tries to dig him out of a hole, and Lando promptly ignores him to have his own pity party, which pissed off George fans.
He has a consistent habit of being selfish - such as when he narrowly beat Charles Leclerc in qualifying at his home race and bragged that "Beating the hometown hero feels good." which pissed off Charles fans.
But these are his peers. His competitors, in fact! He should be like that!
Okay - but he doesn't stop there.
World champions? Nah, they don't deserve Norris's respect either.
Sebastian Vettel? Should concentrate on his driving:
Which pissed off Seb fans.
Lewis Hamilton? Only had to beat two drivers:
Lando Norris said Lewis Hamilton's record-breaking achievement in the Portuguese Grand Prix "doesn't mean anything to me, really".
and he made the most of it, but now it's Lando's turn (except it's not, but we'll get to that):
Which pissed off Lewis fans.
Max Verstappen? It's not talent, just luck:
Which pissed off Max fans.
In fact, he thinks so little of his supposed friend, when he won the Dutch GP, Max's home race, he used his catchphrase:
Oh, but Max wouldn't think badly about that! It's just some friendly ribbing!
No.
Daniel Ricciardo, ex-teammate of both, said Max wouldn't take it lightly, and he didn't.
Max had already trademarked the phrase at this point, and re-iterated it after storming through the rain in Brazil and winning from P16, cementing his championship (while Lando went from pole to 6th...).
And talking of world champions and stealing their catchphrases... this year in Monaco, Jenson Button called him out on it when he did the same to him:
"You also said Monaco Baby which I thought I owned..."
So he's pissed off people in general, pissed off competitors, pissed off world champions... but he's got a good car, right?
Wrong - according to him.
Instead of owning up to the undeniable dominance of the McLaren car, he downplays it all the time. Again, bringing more bad feeling towards him.
But surely he's doing a good thing then, if he's got such a bad car? Well, he's shown to have no ability to actually race his car. He may be fast in clear air, but he has no skill in wheel-to-wheel. Continuing his trend of slagging off Max, in Miami he stated "That's just the way it is with Max, it's crash or don't pass."... when his own teammate had successfully overtaken him in the race to win. Peep Oscar's face - he's not impressed at Lando's excuse:
And it's not just his own teammate who finds him lacking in the actual racing department. After the Austin GP, where Charles did a mega defence against the faster McLaren, Lando complained in the cool down room that "It would be nice if it was a bit easy." earning disbelief and side-eye from Charles and Max:
He doesn't like the actual racing element of racing, and is bad at it. So bad, Lando has a reputation as a bottler. There's a reason he was called Lando Nowins for so long and was so insecure about the nickname that after his first win he released a line of "Lando No Wins" merch.
So he's a bad racer. His fellow drivers think he is bad:
as well as people in the paddock in general:
but... does Lando believe in himself? When he's not miserable every time he fucks up, sure!
He's so confident he's cocky, saying to reporters "let's see how much I can win by." and entirely ignoring Nico Hulkenberg's first F1 podium at Silverstone.
I think poor attitude is a Norris family trait, considering his father attempted to chant over the cheers for Nico - which pissed off Hulkenburg fans this time! Unfortunately I can't find any video evidence but I saw it live with my own eyes as did other fans:
Though, according to Norris, his dad is the reason he's not a good driver:
Because everyone would prefer being left at a gas station by their abusive dad instead of being bought their success:
In conclusion:
Lando may be a fast man in a fast car. In fact, he will probably win this championship by remaining in the front by himself - because as soon as he gets near someone he crashes (see Canada) or has to be told how to pass by his race engineer.
But as a WDC, he will never earn the respect of most fans and his fellow drivers for his poor attitude on and off the race track.
Even Max thinks him being a champion is a joke, as seen when he plastered a meme on his iracing car:
βIf a society puts half its children into short skirts and warns them not to move in ways that reveal their panties, while putting the other half into jeans and overalls and encouraging them to climb trees, play ball, and participate in other vigorous outdoor games; if later, during adolescence, the children who have been wearing trousers are urged to βeat like growing boys,β while the children in skirts are warned to watch their weight and not get fat; if the half in jeans runs around in sneakers or boots, while the half in skirts totters about on spike heels, then these two groups of people will be biologically as well as socially different. Their muscles will be different, as will their reflexes, posture, arms, legs and feet, hand-eye coordination, and so on. Similarly, people who spend eight hours a day in an office working at a typewriter or a visual display terminal will be biologically different from those who work on construction jobs. There is no way to sort the biological and social components that produce these differences. We cannot sort nature from nurture when we confront group differences in societies in which people from different races, classes, and sexes do not have equal access to resources and power, and therefore live in different environments. Sex-typed generalizations, such as that men are heavier, taller, or stronger than women, obscure the diversity among women and among men and the extensive overlaps between themβ¦ Most women and men fall within the same range of heights, weights, and strengths, three variables that depend a great deal on how we have grown up and live. We all know that first-generation Americans, on average, are taller than their immigrant parents and that men who do physical labor, on average, are stronger than male college professors. But we forget to look for the obvious reasons for differences when confronted with assertions like βMen are stronger than women.β We should be asking: βWhich men?β and βWhat do they do?β There may be biologically based average differences between women and men, but these are interwoven with a host of social differences from which we cannot disentangle them.β

every day it just concerns me how little compassion people have. no compassion for those living in the global south. no compassion for immigrants. no compassion for disabled ppl. no compassion for addicts. no compassion for prisoners. no compassion for children. like holy shit ...

How can anyone genuinely enjoy hot weather. How do you enjoy having every waking moment being horrible and awful and sticky. How do you go to bed with air so thick and humid that even laying there with bare bedsheets and splayed out in a starfish, you are still generating too much heat to be anywhere near even the concept of comfort and still smile about it. How do you have every species of flying insect invading your house through desperately opened windows and buzzing all up in your shit like the little fucking spacially unaware invertebrate asshole pricks they are and still claim summer is your favourite season. How. How do you do it. How do you find any semblance of a positive emotion when it's anything above 25β°C at a push. I am miserable. I am planning a trip to the Arctic Circle.
