"Oh come on, Y/N! Don't be so lame! They're popular! And it's the only time I've gotten an invite. I wasn't just going to throw away the opportunity!" Kylie says exasperatedly, throwing up her hands.

You frown, shaking your head subtly. "Why'd you have to bring me along, then?"

"Because, the invitation that I was given specifically asked for you! If I didn't bring you I wouldn't be allowed inside!" she shouts angrily.

Your jaw drops in momentary shock. Who would’ve asked for you? Why?

You groan. "I'm not going to stay long... And you owe me."

Kylie laughs, hugging you before dragging you into the house and dipping as soon as you're inside. You mutter to yourself angrily, standing awkwardly in the doorway connecting the hallway to the living room, watching a small group of people play beer pong. As your eyes scan over the array of people laughing and hollering each time the ball goes into a cup, your eyes manage to land on the birthday boy himself...

Lee Heeseung looks at you with a tilt of his head, adjusting a rose he put behind his left ear, a girl from your study group named Lilian hugging his arm to her side, a smirk on her face.

The tip of his tongue sticks out between his teeth, gently pushing against his lip ring. You can't help but swallow nervously, looking away hastily as you realize you've been staring at his lips for too long.

You jump when an arm falls abruptly onto your shoulders, you turn around.

"Y/N! You made it!"

You turn and see Park Sunghoon, the bane of your existence, his cheeks tinted a rosy pink. You roll your eyes and shrug off his arm, crossing your arms sternly over your chest.

"What do you want, Sunghoon?" you hiss between clenched teeth, placing your weight one foot to further show your distaste in having to talk to him.

"Could I ask for... a kiss?" he drawls with a dumb grin, laughing his stupid head off when you push him away by his face, a furious grunt of effort leaving your lips.

Sunghoon giggles, and you step forward, raising your hand to smack him upside the head when slender fingers wrap around your wrist, stopping you in your tracks. You look up, ready to give the person who stopped you a mouthful, but are brought to a standstill when you look up only to be met with Lee Heeseung's discerning gaze.

Swallowing nervously, you pull away from him and take a step or two back after noticing the closeness between the two of you. "What—what do you think you're doing?" You pinch yourself for stuttering.

He scoffs, his confident smirk weakening your knees. "I'm just casually stopping you from hitting my friend," he says.

You step forward, shoving your fear down your throat and manning up. "Yeah, well, your friend here has no manners whatsoever." You shove your finger into Sunghoon's chest, wanting to strangle him now that he’s laughing again.

Sunghoon strolls off to annoy someone else, making an "adios" gesture with his hand.

Heeseung laughs, leaning in provocatively. "I apologize for his behavior, m'lady. I'd love to make it up to you, if you'd like." He raises a brow questioningly.

You can't help but scoff in disbelief, a grin spreading across your face before you nod. Heeseung smirks, grabbing two bottles of beer before taking your hand and leading you upstairs to the rooms. Your heart beats out of your chest, and you miss how Heeseung turns back to look at you, a soft smile creeping onto his face.

You look down at your intertwined fingers and smile softly before shaking your head. You frown... Why were you coming up here with him? Why was he taking you here? Stopping unexpectedly, the corners of your mouth pull down into a pout and you stare at the stairs as if they're the most interesting thing in the universe.

Heeseung turns around, looking at you curiously. "What's wrong?" he asks, his voice devoid of any particular emotion. Not even his eyes give away his thoughts, which has you biting your lip

"Why're you taking me to your room?"

Heeseung smiles softly, his eyes oddly warm. "I'll tell you everything when we're there, promise."

You hesitate a moment, but ultimately decide to keep going with him. Just as a warning, you find the courage to tell him, "I hope you realize that nothing is going to happen between the two of us." He laughs, shaking his head but nodding.

The heads of the beer bottles clank together each time he sways his arm, and it's to this sound that you sit down together at the edge of his bed, sipping at it quietly. You fluster yourself as your eyes meet. He chuckles at your nervousness, looking away for your sake.

"Are you the one who asked for me to come?" You break the silence. Momentarily admiring his jawline, you miss what he says in reply, but he nods too, thankfully. Way to save yourself from embarrassment.

"Why?" you ask again, your voice quieter.

Heeseung turns to you, his eyes searching your own. "I like you," he says. "The fact that you haven't fallen head over heels for any one of us—ENHYPEN, I mean—is what sparked it."

You raise your brow, but find him dead serious. "You're kidding, right?"

He shakes his head innocently, sipping at his beer and eyeing you when you burst out laughing.

"Sorry, it's just so strange. I mean, sure. You guys are all good-looking, or whatever, but the fact that you find me interesting is hard to believe..."

Heeseung grins, shifting closer to you. You look at him nervously, your eyes landing on his lip ring. You were a sucker for guys who pulled of jewelry...

"You should get used to it, then." He smirks, leaning in slowly, leaving you enough time to pull away. In the moments before your lips meet, time slows down and you feel like your heart stops beating. You lick your lips nervously and end up placing your finger on his lips in a shushing motion. He looks at you with wide eyes, a bit taken aback.

You laugh at his reaction, shaking your head. His lips are soft against your fingertips and it doesn't help your already reeling imagination.

With a knowing smirk he pulls away, raising his hands in defeat. "Yeah, okay. I shot my shot."

You laugh, drinking the last of your beer before propping your feet on the edge of his bed, so you can lie back to look up at the ceiling.

Finishing his own beer, Heeseung follows your example. He paws at the neckline of his shirt, pulling it down slightly to reveal his collarbone.

It's this movement that draws your attention to the choker around his neck, and you find yourself sighing out loud. Heeseung cocks a brow at you, trying and failing to hide the smile creeping it's way onto his face. You prop yourself onto your elbow, tracing your eyes over his build and soaking him in as if he were something forbidden.

Heeseung laughs as your eyes follow along his arm to his hand where he has a few rings on, bringing your eyes back up to meet his. He smirks triumphantly, incredibly self-satisfied. "Do I look good?" he asks.

"Shut up," you say while rolling your eyes to the back of your head, grin spreading across your face like a wildfire.

Your face falls slightly, and Heeseung reacts accordingly. "Why're you frowning?" he asks quietly, propping himself up on his elbow as well.

"Lilian. What were you two doing earlier?"

"Oh, right. She gave me the rose, actually. You don't have to worry about her, though. I see her as nothing more than a friend, promise."

You refuse to meet his eyes for a second, embarrassed at getting jealous even though your aren't even dating. Heeseung smiles gently, lifting up your chin so that your eyes meet.

"I like you, Y/N... Not Lilian. Nor any other girl at this university."

You smile, sighing contentedly before cupping his cheeks. Heeseung turns a bright shade of red, only a few shades lighter than the rose behind his ear. Now you're the one smirking, you feel your confidence swell and decide to go all out. You swing your legs over so that you're sitting on his lap. Heeseung instinctually puts his hands on your waist, his fingers a bit shaky. You chuckle, leaning forward to whisper quietly, "I'm gonna give you a go, Birthday Boy. Don't make me regret it."

You lean in and finally kiss him. Sighing unexpectedly into his mouth you make him laugh. He yelps when you punch his shoulder but continues kissing you anyway, smiling into the kiss like an idiot.
