Just fully takes Troy Lougferd from an anomaly to a clear product of cause and effect. Because, ah. That’s why he has no understanding of harm or consequences - his dad heard he committed a terror campaign and immediately moved to shield him from ramifications without even feigning disapproval. I expected a man who would throw out some empty platitudes about behaving better while enabling Troy’s worst impulses, but damn. All those riches and Extraordinary still could not allocate a single fuck to give about the people his son hypothetically hurt or killed.

And meeting him, we can also understand why Troy has a fixation around his name and being seen. And why viewing other people as beings with sentience and interiority doesn’t come naturally to him. And why he doesn’t listen to people. And why he’s violently averse to feeling/expressing/acknowledging real emotions.

Ripley being the Inventor is so fucking funny in hindsight. She really pulled a “the dog ate my homework” the first time we see her and I love her for that.
