Okay so with Jay!! Her whole thing is with her family, her important family, and her (mostly, complicatedly) rejecting that. So I went with a literal frame for her, like a family photo, but she’s stepping outside of it. It’s all very orange because thats kind of the Ferin color, but I wanted to emphasize Jay having a strong mix of blue (water and pirating, contrasting color to orange) and her bright mane of orange hair that she lets loose that still ties her to her family. If I finish these, I might make the frame more ornate to show the significance of it. Right now it looks kind of humble

Gillion’s I feel the least confident with. I like the idea! But I’m not sure how to do it best. I think I’d try a different composition or maybe some different ideas if I were to finish his. But his is a stained glass window of himself with a big crack through it that reveals the actual him. I feel like it’s pretty self explanatory. His life has been defined for him as this specific image, but that image cracks and there’s an actual person. And he’s not quite like the image on the window. I’m especially unsure about the colors

I thought for a while about Chip, trying to figure out what in the world would frame his life. But then I realized there really isn’t anything that could. He’s never had any guidance or direction, anything to try to define him, no one to tell him what to be. He pulled together and created his own life in a world that gave him practically nothing. So I have him drawing himself. He’s trying hard to be something when no one will recognize him, because there is nothing that defines him except himself something something something.. I think I like how his looks so far the most
