Aria Rostami is a San Francisco artist whose intersection of Iranian diaspora and American culture have created a truly unique amalgamation of sound and cultural cultivation. Working under genres of ambient, classical, noise and pop, Rostami’s music seeks to explore the artistic and personal breakthrough of such varied works.

“Reform” is Rostami’s latest album, equally reflective and forward. The album draws closely upon imagery of past remnants and future contemplation.

In Rostami’s recording room are scattered notes of a passed best friend, dead roses on a piano, books on WWII and a painting of a moonlit river purchased in Iran 17 years ago. These items serve as what’s been gathered during time spent in their native San Francisco.

But with any perception of the past comes an idealization of the future, these items also stand for what is to be left behind in preparation of Rostami’s next musical journey towards New York.

A collection of songs both written old and new, “Reform” is a reference to Rostami’s first two albums, “Form” and “Uniform,” as a way to bookend this chapter in life.

The 1st video off of Aria Rostami’s forthcoming LP “Reform” resonates as an intimate series of vignettes. 'Lowered Intentions’ touches on the dynamics of the selfie & online expression, patriarchal oppression & Western imposition, the bonding of gender, and the passing of a best friend. The result is unforgettably endearing, humorous, poignant, and profound. “Reform” is out March 14th, 2017 on ZOOM LENS.

LLLL “Chains”

12 Months. 12 Songs. 12 Artists.

A new chain will be released the 1st Friday of every month for the duration of one entire year. A compiled EP will be released on the day of every 3rd chain.

The entire project will be split into 4 individual phases.

A new visual artist will be invited for every track. Their basis in creation is to uphold a projective sense of the work before them.

Much like the interpretation of the visual artist, every chain will be provided with additional stems for those who wish to sonically interpret the sounds of LLLL.

Yoshino Yoshikawa Event Horizon Event Horizon is Yoshino Yoshikawa’s first full-length album. The album thematically revolves around imagery of the solar system to convey different ways in which humanity, technology and art interconnect as a global means of expression. Throughout the album we are greeted with sounds still relevant and distinctly J-Pop, yet merging with other experimentations and current stylistic trends such as maximalist pop & jersey club, all coupled with fluidly catchy synthpop and house beats. The effect is sweet & vigorous. Yoshino paints a world where the gloss of pop music is utilized to observe the more pressing matters of social circumstance. In singles like “Mirage,” Yoshino stresses the anxiety of living life like a game and struggling to find the solution towards the mundanity of existing in the confinements of society. Tracks such as “Opt-Out” duet with a vocaloid to tell us of a world where we are relying too heavily on AI-based recommendations as Yelp and that we must reclaim our humanity and make our own decisions by pushing ourselves towards face-to-face interaction again. Yura Mari, Shu Ichikawa, Suzushiro & elizatwinkies guest vocals on the album, along with an eloquent & bubbly remix by Hercelot.
