Updated Joker design!

I will never be satisfied but for now here’s an updated look for my version of the clown prince of crime!

He’s got a peony flower, frankly the pink is a fantastic accent imo. Also those squiggly lines will never stay the same, no lore reason— I just have no consistency.

His tongue is like that because it’s heavily scarred — like the skin under his makeup—.

Those pink pockets on the sides hold his throwing cards and more drugs. The little green and purple balls are smoke bombs, a mix of laughing gas and actual obscuring smoke for get aways.

Of course the laughing gas doesn’t work on Batman, because he’s Batman. ( my version of Batman actually has his whole face obscured as well).

When going into card themes, he’s the jack of hearts.

Though his throwing cards don’t have any card suites on them, just his signature grin.

Sometimes his makeup will change depending on his mood, though he sticks with the look you see above most of all.

He has no gun holder because for most of his story, my Joker hates guns.

Like he cannot be near one, let alone aim and fire. So his main weapons are gags and occasionally a knife if he’s in major danger.

I like them fine, though I’m more partial to batjokes over scriddler ( DON’T ATTACK ME PLEASE GOD-) due to Batjokes having a lot more chemistry to me compared to scriddler.

In my humble opinion ( OPINION.) I can see how Jonathan and Edward can work but also, it just isn’t my favorite thing y’know? They can have a fun dynamic but their goals don’t really match in the ways Joker and Scarecrow can ( if you go the route of controlling people with chemicals for their end goals.)

In my own universe (dazeverse or DDC) Bailey ( joker) has a goal of making Gotham smile, by flooding the streets with his smilex drugs and Joycure, a legitimate medication ( before ofc his identity is revealed blah blah blah). So instead of chaos for chaos sake, it’s chaos as means to an end.

This gives him a dynamic that can work super well with Scarecrow who either A, wants to control fear ( enemies to lovers) or B, wants to cure fear ( more likely to be partners in working together).

This is compared to Edward who usually is more self serving with his pride and puzzles, often working with Jon as means to his own end for a scheme then never really parting ways. Edward has no skin in the game compared to my joker at least, he can leave any time he wants— meanwhile if Bailey left Jon? There’d be repercussions!

Now batjokes… sigh. That was my first ship in dc, ahh memories. It’s a classic! Enemies to lovers, corruption of morals while trying to save the antithesis of everything you stand for. And hell, Bailey still is obsessed with Batman. He “loves” Batman to the point there’s a literal chemical addiction to his Batsy.

So I am still biased.

Although that just adds another layer to Scarejokes because Bailey CHOOSES Jon compared to Batman who he’s just constantly drawn to like a moth to flame.

Not to mention in Knightfall ( haven’t read it yet but I’ve seen) they have a little team up so THERES MULTIPLE CANONS.

Rambling below explaining why:

Anyways I completely revamped my Jon’s personality and now he’s— oh my god he’s pathetic and I adore him??

Okay listen. Before y’all get your pitchforks LISTEN- Jonathan’s whole thing is fear. Causing it, controlling it, studying it.

It’d make sense for him to be afraid as well. And a lot of the time he is. But you never really see him anxious and terrified unless he’s drugged. A lot of the time his personality is scholarly, reserved, hidden sadism under science.

Why not strip that away? Leave him a neurotic professor turned rogue. As Scarecrow of course he feels far more confident in his abilities, his second skin even. I’m still working on this part, but for now he’s more— campy? He’s clearly enjoying being Scarecrow. Laughing and Hroo hraaing and everything.

Also violent dancing. God I love the violent dancing it’s so fun to imagine.

Anyways he’s still a meta-human as well, still horribly traumatized by his entire childhood— teen hood. Though instead of being an Arkham doctor he’s just a professor until he gets fired and then goes “TIME TO DRESS AS A SCARECROW AND GET REVENGE AND EXPERIMENT ON FEAR.”

Although cryptid scarecrow still lives in my au.

I’m like a week late but atp every month is pride month if you’re cool enough am I right? Also work has zapped all my energy like the mosquito that keeps eating me. Like girl chill.

Anyways happy pride month! It’s another year forward and we’re still here, that’s amazing! I’m celebrating with my favorite clown, Joker!

Idk if anybody will read this part but the reason why I chose the queer flag is because at least for Bailey ( my version of joker) He doesn’t do specific labels.

He loves Batman. He likes men. He likes having any pronoun he can, he’s kissed plenty of people, and he’s in love with Scarecrow ( scarejokes forever). There’s just, a lot. Nothing mention how his entire thing is kinda like — not accepting the labels he’s been given.

He’s more than just one thing, more than one single part of his identity. I feel like the queer flag encompasses that. He’s not straight, but he’s not just gay, bi, pan, etc either.

He’s just a clown!
