KEEP CALLING!
KOSA supporters are increasing their political pressure. Some are even meeting with Speaker Johnson, and this comes as reports say the Senate and House are "making a show of collaborating on KOSA." We too need to increase our political pressure, so keep calling House Leadership, Senate Commerce Committee members, and your representatives!

During a rally today, Ted Cruz said that the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will markup Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), COPPA 2.0, Keep Kids Off Social Media Act and a chatbot bill he introduced.
A date for this markup as not been announced, so while it could be Cruz saying something to please age-verification supporters at this rally. We SHOULD NOT take it that way.
There is a hearing on age-verification scheduled for tomorrow, May 13th, and a markup for some non age-verification bills scheduled for Thursday, May 14th. While I don't believe the markup will actually take place on these dates because the committees do give at least some type of advance notice for the press, because no date was mentioned, a markup could realistically happen as early as this week or next week.
This means WE MUST KEEP CALLING or start back calling if you it has fallen off for you. CALL THIS WEEK AND BEYOND. SPREAD THE WORD on Reddit, Twitter, Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube, and more.
Some call-in days will be:
This Thursday, May 14th, 3-6 pm EST This Friday, May 15th, 12-3 pm EST & 5-7 pm EST
Contact Senate Committee members, and continue calling House Leadership, your Senators, and your Representatives to oppose age-verification

Love when people use a holiday and dead kids to manipulate people into stripping away privacy from kids and adults/s:
Call your representatives and senators. Fax them. Write them. Email them.
Do the same with organizations around you and explain what these bills will actually do.
That's a new low. I'll add a suggestion that we do address those situations while we're fighting against KOSA, figure out a genuine solution that won't involve age verification or censorship. Part of what is making KOSA so successful is that parents believe that this is the "only way" to protect their kids. If we want the fight to be most effective, we must give parents the reassurance that their kids will be safe.
I'm a bit late, but please call your representatives about age verification TODAY:
"Please spend a few minutes today calling:
- your Congressional House member
- your Congressional Senators
- your State House nember
- your State Congressional member
- Congressional House GOP leadership in the House and Energy & Commerce Committee
Check to see if your state has age verification/digital ID bills.
At the Congressional level, we want to call to oppose all digital ID and age verification bills like KOSA and the bill packages."
Decorating the legacy house instead of playing the legacy family, womp womp.
After two days of what can only be described as mania, the house is done...more under the cut.
KOSA UPDATE 03/05/2026
While the title of this post is KOSA related, there were several bills to watch for in today's House Energy and Commerce committee markup, including the The App Store Accountability Act and the Kids Act (which I believe is KOSA and some other age-verification bills meshed together).
The House Energy and Commerce committee voted 28-24 to pass these bills out of committee, making them eligible for a floor vote whenever Mike Johnson may choose to bring them up.
While this is bad, I refuse to be defeated. In the past age-verification bills have passed by large margins, and are often bipartisan. This vote clearly was not that, which signals to me that there is weakness and that for whatever reason, Congress members do not agree.
We can take advantage of these weaknesses and that fact that the House and Senate do not agree on the final outlook of these bills (which is why there even is a Senate and a House version of KOSA), we just have to keep opposing and pointing out the flaws in these bills and how ineffective they are. They clearly see it, like when AOC referenced the mess with discord.
From here next steps are to rest, see how organizations like Fight for the Future, EFF, and Net choice interpret today, and be ready to continue calling, emailing, and faxing our representatives, senators, and House Leadership:
⭐Steve Scalise
(202) 225-3015
⭐Mike Johnson
(202) 225-2777
⭐Hakeem Jeffries

The bipartisan push to remove anonymity from the internet is ushering in an era of unprecedented mass surveillance and censorship.

We should all be talking about KOSA. The bill would mean the end of the open internet in the US, and it was just approved by a House committee for a floor vote. The act is ostensibly designed to regulate the age of social media users. However, it actually deanonymizes the internet and allows the government to sue LGBTQ+ websites.
Unsurprisingly, the Heritage Foundation is one of the main lobbying groups behind this push. They have publicly stated they want to use the law to restrict LGBTQ+ and abortion-related content. Blocking children under 16 from accessing the internet means young people will be isolated within their communities. They cannot discuss LGBTQ+ issues with their online peers. They could not request help to access abortion clinics. Senator Marsha Blackburn, who once personally sent the FBI to my doorstep to harass me, admits the law is intended to shield “minor children from the transgender [sic] in this culture.”
“The through-line couldn’t be clearer: destroying online anonymity is a way for government to be able to identify ¬— and ultimately punish — dissenters,” explains Ari Cohn, lead counsel for tech policy at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. The DHS has already subpoenaed hundreds of anonymous accounts tracking and protesting ICE. KOSA would make it even easier for the government to access your data.

(I know I'm not an apple user, but this still sucks for them!)
We talked about this a few weeks ago on this blog, actually! 🍎📱
Apple is rolling out enhanced, mandatory age verification tools worldwide to comply with child safety laws.
They apparently already did this to Australia, Brazil, and Singapore. Now the UK, too! This will probably spread to other countries!
This sucks for Apple users! If you can, please contact Apple and complain! Remember to load them up with emails, messages, phone calls, and faxes. Annoying companies works sometimes, so DEFINITELY DO THIS!
If you can even consider dropping them as a provider and do not buy their products. We don't want to be supporting companies that do this!
