     he can’t suppress his GIGGLES. they’re soft, and withheld mostly inside his chest so that he can nuzzle his nose against her cheek. palms graze the back of her head – her neck, a careful embrace. she’s learning methods of affection so well, he’d have hardly guessed she was raised in ISOLATION, anymore ( he was a little intimidated by her, at first. she was beautiful and strange to him, and he could sense how strong she was if it wasn’t clearly identified in her stance alone ).

          there’s a low thrum of excitement flowing through her at his acceptance, though half of her expects a trap ( can’t be helped, when everyone steals and lies and tricks and attacks ) of some sort to spring the second she lets her guard down. solution: don’t let your guard down. but that doesn’t stop a wan half smile from curving her chapped lips, eyes crinkling all the more. poe just has that kind of personality. the kind that rubs off on you before you even realize it. the kind where you feel like you’re sitting next to a glowing sphere of warmth. it helps that he’s so disarming, smiling, laughing at his own clumsiness.

of course it takes him almost no time afterward to realize that he will never never belong among them 

of course when he cares so much and can feel it so deeply and no one else does is when he realizes that they were never wrong when they treated him as an outsider because he is one to them he is different

and don’t even get me started on rey with her loneliness and her fear of the same and the rage inspired in her by the thought of being alone again, having her people taken from her again, and how there’s no way her desperately, viciously wanting to kill kylo at the end of tfa, for han and for finn, will be her only brush with the dark side and how finn will inevitably be there to take her hand and bring her back to the light
