I had an idea for Galra where the colour yellow is only allowed to be worn by the Empress.
One of the favourable colours for Galran citizens to wear is orange as that's as close as they can get to wearing yellow. It's especially popular for undergarments.
The Empress (Galra Keith), would dress in ethereal gossamer yellow fabrics, so light they almost float. With gold bangles and anklets, topaz and amber detailing, and a row of gold hoops pierced at the ends of his ears.
Purple and yellow is just such a stunning combination of colours, especially when they're softer tones, and I think it makes sense that it would be the colour for royalty.

Important note too is that I see it common where the galra do not pierce ears because they're sensitive or erogenous zones or w/e but keep in mind, we humans pierce nipples and genitalia,,, maybe some galra DO pierce their ears but it's seen as a little bit scandalous
I bet it gets more in fashion when Empress Keith has his ears pierced
