white europeans love to pretend like the united states and europe aren’t two cheeks of the same ass
Listen, nobody who's ever opened a history book says we didn't do that shit first. Pick an atrocity and chances are there was a time europeans did it on mass to someone for the sake of profit. The difference, is that we have for the most part put the worst of it behind us, while the US is just sinking deeper and deeper into it. We're not perfect, and we were a lot worse in the past. But it has been a while since we were the problem.
Edit: After recieving plenty of anon hate, first off, we pissing on the poor here?
"Well actually it was europe who raced to conquer africa" - see the start of the post, I know that, I said so myself.
"Oh so europe learned racism from america!?" Not what, I said, strawman argument, next.
"But what about how europe is being racist to "insert people"!?" First of, I never said all racism in europe was gone, there is still racism found all over the place. But unlike in the US, a vast majority of this is by individuals found largely in isolated rural areas (again, note, not all, but most), as opposed to the straight up institutionalized racism backed by the US government and a a significant percentage of the common folk.
Aka, Europe, while not flawless, has largely left the worst parts of racism behind. There is still plenty of things to fix, but the trend is on a whole (but not neccesarily for all specific aspects) decidedly improving.
Unlike in the US where the number of hatecrimes per year has been on the rise since around 2013 (with france here being a notable outlier in europe where the number has also gone up lately, so again, not perfect). Next, despite only making up about 13% of the US total population, nearly half the people in state prisons are of color. On pretty much all levels, when adjusting for population, white people proportionally hold a vast majority of the higher paying jobs, and white people on all job levels make more money than non-white people.
And then of course there is ICE. A state funded militia which regularly mistreats, and both accidentaly and purposfully kill people bases on straight up racial profiling. Which, yes, gets a lot of pushback by a big portion of the US, but also gets applauded by many, and importantly, the state fully backs them up.
The US is also a big player in forcing other nations hands in backing Israel. They certainly don't hold all the blame, but we know they have directly and indirectly held economic threats against EU member states to keep them on Israel's side. And in modern times if the US weren't present to start a war in the middle east, they nearly always butted in to fuck up the rebuilding process afterwards, which is a whole other tangent but let me tell you, while again, Europe started it when they rushed to split up the Ottoman Empire, no other nation has caused as much damage to the middle east in modern times as the US
So I'm sorry, but to all the people (or the one/ few repeating anons) who have been spamming me after I posted this. I stand by it. Europe has plenty of problems, economic disparity, generic dislike of immigrants regardless of where they are from, political issues (comparatively trivial compared to the US, but still) and plenty more. But when it comes to racism, for the most part, no matter where you're from you can go to most places and be fine. There will be small things, and certainly specific cases where you see bigger issues. But on a whole, racism is a lesser problem. Still a problem, but not a significantly impactfull everyday problem.
Unlike in the US, where you fought a war over race, had massive historicall landmark protests over race, yet still to this day struggle to the point that normal news from the US make the fucking union newpaper look tame. So yes, compared to Europe, the US is the fucking problem.
Rant over
Oh you really doubling down on this one. Alright I'm prefacing this with: I'm a Pole and you are out of your fucking mind for saying it's "trivial" and there were never wars over race???? lmfao Like to a western piece of Eurotrash like you which I'm assuming with how chauvinistic you are, a Slav is not considered white and a different race with all the racism WITHIN the white supremacy hierarchy and hello, WWII called. That was waged upon the "races" that did not qualify as the master race, where Jews and Roma were never considered white and European to begin with.
But hey let's just check in on some headlines from the past 6 yrs that your white ass can conveniently shut their eyes and plug their ears from bc you specifically aren't experiencing it, so I'm sure racism doesn't exist.
Let's look at the beacon of freedom and equality. I'm sure the French are having a normal one.
Oh hmm... well... maybe Deutschland learned its lesson?
One in three... yeah Germany still a mistake I see. Well maybe Italy will be okay?
Ah... more than half find it's JUSTIFIED to be racist, but hey it's trivial am I right? Well I'm sure the UK is fairing well despite the whole pioneering transphobic legislation within the west.
Failing on an international level. Maybe Greece will be decent and acting totally normal?
Masked men? Stripped and forcibly taken? Why is ICE in Greece??? Hmm... well I'm sure the shining beacon of the good ol' Nordic countries will prove us wrong.
Oh... preserving whiteness is becoming more prevalent, the Klu Klux Klan are proud. But wait there's more to Europe's sweethearts!
Segregated neighborhoods and ghetto lists? They might as well just start installing segregated bathrooms and water fountains with "Aryan" and "Untermenschen" slapped on and wouldn't be much different than the US South when "White" and "Colored" signage was mandatory.
Eastern Europe is also not off the hook either and it disgusts me when Poland is gleefully accepting a seat at the white supremacy table just to dish out the same shit that Slavs have endured in the past. No fucking self awareness or solidarity in sight that exemplifies when given the opportunity, anyone white passing will jump at the chance of power tripping over another minority bc it's much easier than struggle in solidarity.
But it's all "trivial" and "in the past." You are no different than the US American shitlib that denies seeing anything racist in their white gated community bc it's not front and center so it obviously doesn't exist in the country anymore. You are the white liberal Malcolm X warned about. Disrespectfully, shut the ever loving fuck up you white devil.
I talk more about it in another post so I won't repeat myself beyond saying yes, Europe has issues, plenty of issues, and I agree with all of the examples you bring up. As to the "trivial" and "no wars" and "in the past" comments, maybe I picked my words poorly, but either way you've misunderstood my intentions. There is a huge difference between "trivial" and "comparatively trivial" (which is what I said). Perhaps "comparatively minor" would have been more accurate, but that too has stronger connotations than what I mean. But the sentiment, which I still maintain and which I go into more elsewhere, is that while I agree to all of the issues Europe has, my point is that we see all the same and more in the US. As for the "no wars" comment, what I meant was not to say that Europe *hasn't* fought wars over race, obviously we have, again, I said so directly in the first post. My point was a perhaps overly cheeky highlight of the fact that even after fighting a civil war specifically about slavery and the rights of non whites, the US is still struggling with this. And for the "in the past" comment, as I talk about in the other comment, I'm not saying "we left racism behind and now all is well", all I meant was "Europe used to be really bad, but we have gotten a lot better and are improving, while the US in many ways has gotten worse" In general it's clear that I pushed a bit too hard and was a bit careless with some word choices, and I apologize for that, and I just want to again specify, I agree Europe has issues, plenty of issues. All of your examples are excellent examples and in no way is my argument "Europe has no racism while US has plenty". My whole point was that the original argument OP made of "Well Europe is just as bad as the US" was reductive and that right now the US is rapidly deteriorating and risks accelerating that fall rather than fixing it and that is worth highlight. So I'm sorry if my perhaps rushed choice of language made anyone feel like I was undermining their struggles, it was in no way my intention, and I hope I've managed to explain my views better now.
