After doing that Kinger doodle the other day, I decided to illustrate some more quotes from Frankenstein I thought were Relevant. The moral of the story is: if you make a sentient abomination and then abandon him, he's probably going to have some emotions about it, SMH. I think I just like how Caine is a sort of "Frankenstein's monster in clown shoes," trapped in a way that's both horrible but also ridiculous— Mary Shelley in comic sans. it’s unclear what vampirism does to the soul—normally, undead creatures don’t have one, but vampires may be the exception. in bg3, they clearly are considering the rite of profane ascension

but it would be kinda shredded and fucked up by the vampirism. when vampires drink blood they’re also consuming little bits of the victim’s soul, and that’s the part they actually need for “nutrition”

elves work a bit differently in terms of souls: there’s a set number of them and they reincarnate, returning to arvandor (divine realm of the elven pantheon) between stints. and also—elves and their gods really, really, really hate undeath

astarion is faithless, not false, so his soul could get claimed by a god when he dies. since he’s an elf, it ought to go to arvandor, but since he’s undead and this will have left marks it’s possible corellon larethian and sehanine moonbow and the rest don’t want him

the result of that would be that he’s ousted from the elven cycle of reincarnation. at that point some other god would probably swoop in and stake a claim—souls are The currency of the outer planes. gods can claim souls on the basis of vibing with their portfolio, even without worship

in that case i would say that mask, god of thieves, would be able to make a good argument for why astarion should be theirs. honestly even bhaal, considering spawn!astarion becomes a bounty hunter

Finished a second playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 today, which got me thinking about all the Origin characters, especially in Act 3 and their endings. I had a lot of fun revisiting Wyll's quest in the Wyrmway, Karlach's heartbreaking dialogue, and Shadowheart with her parents. This time around I got Ascended Astarion and God Gale, they are so insufferable and funny to talk to in the epilogue LOL What a great game!! Let me know if you have ideas for future playthroughs...

my biggest word of advice to anyone scared to post their work/ocs/involve themselves in creative spaces online is to earnestly get interested in other people. be kind to others, like/reblog their work, tell them what you like about their work, get to know them as people.

this isn’t to “weasel” your way into anything or having ulterior motives or whatever. if you become friends with someone then that’s great! but there’s always something very personal about posting any kind of creative work. we’re all trying our best to connect with each other and the best way to get comfortable is to get to know others and show up as yourself. 🫶🏾
