What she means: Gendry and Arya’s relationship is often viewed as superficial, in which one of them used the other for sex while the other developed feelings “out of nowhere” and was assumed that he was going get over them soon since his purpose of life was being named lord of some unknown land he did not care about. But in reality their relationship was based on loyalty, mutual trust and affection. Gendry was the first person that Arya entrusted with her deepest secret at that moment, not because she had to but because she knew HE was different… and when he was sold by the BWB, she added 3 people on her kill list just because they took him away from her. While Gendry decided to join Arya’s most beloved brother on a suicide mission and help him on the war against the white walkers in an attempt to redeem himself for leaving her, without being certain if she was still alive. And when they were finally reunited, after all they both went through, we saw them fall back again into the same familiarity, but now, with hints of mutual attraction that quickly developed in pure love, a love that was consummated by the most intimate act ever!! an act that was consensual on both parts in a show where ‘relationships’ often come from rape/violence/incest/politics. And after surviving the war, even before being named Lord, the first thing Gendry wanted to do was to be with Arya!! Then it was followed by the softest proposal ever!! We witnessed the internal struggle of Arya and her attempt to make the rejection as painless as possible. And with that open ending and now that the show’s over and cannot mess with their story anymore, I will continue to believe they will meet each other again soon and they will marry and have lots and lots of babies and grow old and happy because it’s the least they deserve.
