The flowers were now beginning to pour in, most from people she didn’t even know -or care to know- but it wasn’t as if Alessandra was in a position to simply toss them away like she had wanted; being confined to her bed with only a sliver of strength didn’t afford her much in the way of action. She had drifted in and out of sleep throughout the day, sometimes it was the pain that set her towards slumber instead of the medication, but the sudden creaking of her hospital door caused one eye to pry open curiously.
"If you’re here to force feed me lime jello….."
Darius held up the flowers in his hand in a gesture of surrender as one might a gun when faced with a SWAT team. "I didn't know Jell-O were a requirement," he said, cracking a grin. The sight of Alessandra awake and well warmed a corner of his heart that his brain calmly told to fuck off. "Although I'm guessing I shouldn't have brought flowers... They seemed like an excellent idea at the florist's, but you look like you could open your own flower shop from right here."
