LEANING AGAINST TRADITION
It seems that Thos. Moser, handmade american furniture, got their inspiration from Peter hvidt and Orla Mølgaardâs sofa, model 147 for France & Son. Danish handmade/factory made furniture. Thos. Moserâs sofa is called Ellipse, E-LC3. According to their website: â The first impression of our Ellipse Sofa is its lightness.â That is true to a certain extent, however when you compare the top 2 pictures I would call the Thos. Moser sofa sturdy and robust as well as lightish. Donât get me wrong I really like their furniture and designs.Â
The Hvidt and Mølgaard sofa was also inspired by and made more contemporary by something older as is most design. Great design is: Leaning against tradition and dare leaning against the new winds.
Yet another contester for the DAW chairs. From Habeo, Germany. When I look at these chairs I think of bees and beekeepers and then the closing scene from The Pink Panther with inspector Clouseau:Â âA beekeeper who has lost his voice, a cook who thinks he's a gardener, and a witness to a murderâ. Still hilarious I think.
The fabric of the seat should have been a dark shade of yellow. This exact chair is mind-blowing, look what it just did to my mind and mind you iâm not even sitting in it, imagine the unending stream of consciousness that would flow. Unfortunately they are very hard to come by in Denmark. I would have to get them from our southern neighbours. Dare I purchase this chair without testing the seating height and the long-term effect on my brain!??Â
Iâm wondering whether these chairs could replace our Eames DAW chairs!? They are definitely different and that is a plus. I donât know who the designer is. My guess would be that they are German. They have a Habeo feel about them (German furniture manufacturer company). I must admit that Iâm quite taken by them. I came across them on an on-line auction which ends in a couple of days. Iâll let you now how it pans out.
This was on my radar as a substitution for our DAW-chairs. Incredible french dining bench with great leather patina. I havenât fully recovered yet since I lost the bidding war against some tedious stubborn fella with an impeccable taste. This will haunt me for quite some time.Â
I just have to dust off myself and keep looking.

Stunning mcm inspired livingroom. #midcentury #midcenturyinspired #livingroom #onecushionchasenice
In front we have the saw bench easy chair (model CH-28) made by Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son. Fitting room for a fine chair.
I simply love this text. Itâs quality. Itâs typed on machine. Itâs a lot of fun.
The danish text has a different take on the old problem. Which glass belongs to whom and why ? I always find myself in a situation pondering why that specific glass belongs to that exact guy. If we all would just use the neck glass, then I would have time to smoke, eat, shake hands and even hold another drink.
Nanna Ditzel âOda armchairâ. 1956.
Poul M. Volther... Whoa whoa whoooa. More to follow on this beauty. This example is one of maybe three examples ever made and itâs made by a friend of mine, cabinetmaker Jannik Grage.Â
What you see on the credenza is your new favorite party glass. Donât leave your home without it. Itâs Holmegaard at their best. I will post the details about the neck glass when I get back home.
The Soeholm (Søholm) vase was a gift to the missus after she had so neatly delivered our first daughter.

Argh, I canât get my head around it. They simply wonât stack as I want them to. Maybe we need a change of scenery, not that the DAWs havenât served our little family well. I would just like something more interesting and less polypropylene plastic. Ok, so the hunt will begin.
The credenza or dining room sideboard is designed by Arne Vodder and is almost as dear to me as my 2 girls. None of them is in danger of being sold.
The educational chart is about solar and lunar eclipses. Â Itâs german and as safe as the girls.

This is the famous "FJ 45" by Finn Juhl. One of my favorite chairs, I do have a lot of favorite chairs, but still this high up on that list. Its of course a figure of speech, I don´t have an actual list, maybe I should make that list one of these days. Any who, this was lot. nr. 954 of the auction. A pair of teak easy chairs. Upholstered and with a woolen cushion. Designed 1945. These made circa 1960s by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder.
Valuation: ⏠13,500
Sold for: ⏠28,180 + fee of 30%
This is an example of at least 2 bidders who won´t budge an inch. The outcome is that you purchase the items way above the market price. The bidders gave us quite the show at the auction however. Congrats to the chap who will most certainly enjoy the company of these two elegant gentlemen.

Yet another piece by Peder Moos. Coffee table with teak top mounted on three drumstick legs of nut wood. Signed Moos 1952. H. 54,5 cm. Diam. 63 cm.
I would have very few problems drinking my coffee at this table. If there ever was a pedestal for our favorite cup of coffee.
Valuation: ⏠5,400 - 8,050
Sold for: ⏠11,407 + fee of 30%

This is my virgin post on tumblr, so I will set the bar very high with this magnificent armchair by Peder Moos. A true wood wizard of a cabinetmaker. This is from an international auction, Bruun Rasmussen Nordic Design, I attended last Thursday, 5 March. The following posts will be from that auction. Since these are from an auction I will write valuation and what they were sold for.
