Renfield Headcanons (pre-mania)!!
i’ll make another for my headcanons on him for after he met Dracula and became his familiar :3
Idc what the movie Renfield says, this man was never married. He’d never really been interested in having a family, always putting his work first.
His parents raised him well and he was taught to be respectful. He can be talking to the most icky garbage trash person, and he will still be saying “please” and “thank you”
He minds his business because “if it doesn't affect me, I don't need to be involved.”
He is 100% American and had not ever been to England
He’s a scientific kinda guy, so he doesn't believe in things unless there’s some kind of proof
He likes children and thinks they’re cute. He doesn't want kids of his own, but he almost wishes he had a sibling so he could have nieces/nephews to play with and help take care of
I can fully agree with this headcanon on the basics of Bram Stoker's R.M Renfield character.
But Renfield character himself as a baseboard,
I always thought Renfield was a troublesome real estate lawyer. Very bad at his job but willing to do anything for success! Not big or well-known enough. Many people thought he was financially successful for his family when in reality, he's a butthead, single, unlikable, real estate lawyer. I'd say he met Dracula in his early 30's.
But then Dracula did something to him, I guess hypnotize him? And Renfield is a completely different person. All of his desires are his priority than he ever thought of. He wants to be useful, loved, cared for, be able to be a good human being. He wants to be a source of happiness for all kinds.
I guess Dracula has found the right person to be his familiar.
But then Renfield 2023, happened, and I felt a bit disappointed with how they made his character. (Same with plot, and teddy, but whatever).
