Truth. An elongated sigh left his lips, as if he held the breath in for a longer amount of time. Zane was a pretty questionable person at times, but at least he hadn’t lied to Xavier’s face. At least, not that his inner ticks exposed him for it. “Hmm.” His gaze flickered from the joint to Zane’s face, the wrinkles indent his forehead to add to the narrowed eyes full of scrutiny. “No, but being under the influence could harm someone else.” He admitted truthfully, and his face relaxed as he continued to weight the pros & cons.

Jade was searching for something in her purse as she walked into her nightclub. While it was technically owned by the Government, she ran the place. She stopped dead upon seeing a pair of shoes before her. “You do realise this is a nightclub, boo? You can’t be here at,” she paused to check her watch, “two thirty in the afternoon. Well I guess since you’re here, you can do me a favour. I need someone to man the bar tonight - want the job?”

Xavier tilted his head as he glanced around the club, and then turned to Jade. A blank stare locked onto the woman. “Oh, how foolish of me.” He muttered with his same cynical baritone voice. “You don’t even know me, but you’re offering for me to take a bartender job? Why is that?” He pushed onward and waited with the pessimistic outlook that the woman in front of him would probably lie. He didn’t lie himself, so he glanced around the nightclub. “I was treating someone outside with minor abrasions, so I was borrowing your floor.”

Lucie stood outside Rendezvous, resting briefly before starting her walk back to Point. She was cutting it close on time, she always did, but she really liked to push her limits with curfew. She was more than tipsy, looking around the city in the dark, scanning for anyone to walk with. Noticing someone, she perked up, “Hey!” She shouted, already walking toward them. “Are you leaving? I have to walk back to Point, and I didn’t want to walk alone.” Sure, she had Lu, but Lu was pouting about her choices at the moment. “It’s okay if you’re not going over there, but strength in numbers and all that, right?” Even if she just ended up walking them back to their house, it was good to have a little company. 

Xavier didn’t have to groan aloud, instead he felt his stomach do a flip. He had hoped to avoid people, but part of him always skated on the line of introvert & extrovert. He stared at the younger girl with a thoughtful sigh. If he had just let her go on her way, it was likely he would have to approach her under different circumstances. Inebriated people rarely did anything gracefully, and this included walking alone back to the point. He hummed, but nodded to her. At least, she hadn’t lied about her destination. Though, she did seem rather young to be at Rendezvous.

OPEN STARTER. Location: Gym Time

Xavier didn’t mind the gym as much as he minded wanting to be away from people. The slight boil to his blood and feverish cloak that overtook his body at the mention of a lie he heard near him. He didn’t know the extent of the lie, unless he was part of the conversation. The symptoms only became harsher on his insides the closer the lie was told to him. He thought perhaps he would get lucky when he came to the Gym at an odd hour. However, his peace of quiet & truth was instantly interrupted by Jace in front of him. “Are you sure about that?” He grumbled.

Ollie sat on the bench outside the grocery store, bag of frozen peas pressed to the now black eyes he had from busting his face on a the ground. The Beast had broken free last night, rampaging through the woods, luckily avoiding town. However, Oliver himself was not as lucky. He tried to fight the Beast, harder than ever, and he still lost and was extremely banged up in the process. He’d fallen on rocks, run through tree branches, he was covered head to toe in scratches, bruises, and cuts, some deeper than others. 

Xavier always kept some medical supplies on his person, that was part of his job. Though he was rather introverted and didn’t discuss with many what his profession actually was. He passed by the bench and paused as his eyes dragged over the younger male. A slow blink and he reached into the pocket of his jacket to produce the small bottle. “I do, but..” He paused looking over the semi splatter of blood with the frozen ice pack. “Maybe you should follow me, and we’ll get you cleaned up a bit too. I won’t hurt you, but will you hurt me?” He concentrated his powers to be in tune with the answer.

Xavier hummed with lacking amusement as he regarded the bracelet with a glare.  Half tempted to pop his earbuds in and walk away from the conversation, but he stayed. Head canted to the side as his hand slid over the top of his head in thought. “It’s all about control.” He mentioned with a slow nod of his head, as he tried to wrap his brain around it. The old administration he had trusted what they said, but lately he felt.. uncomfortable to say the least. The foretelling signs of lies didn’t strike him, but that didn’t mean he trusted anything going on. “Why else?”

To try to get his mind off of things, Zane made his way to the club. He needed to release some energy without using his power so much. To calm his mind down, get drunk, and try not to worry about what was going on in the world. There was nothing he could do in that moment, after all. There was no point in worrying about his brother. He was a doctor, he could take care of himself, right?

The plan hadn’t been to go to the club, because even with the boisterous energy - lies were always afoot. His expression jaded under the cast of light from above them. The trick about the club was, most inebriated people at least told the truth. So at least he was rest assured that he wouldn’t feel the familiar tingle in his bones when someone said something that was a fabrication of the truth. Zane was a familiar face, and he furrowed both brows towards him. Xavier turned to look around towards the others with pessimistic pursed lips. “I believe their sole purpose is profit here, Zane.” 

Jazmine’s phone fell on the green grass beneath her feet and her legs almost gave out on her. Was this real? Was the outside world really that bad? If that was the case then why hadn’t they found out sooner? The thought that what they had just witnessed was really happening terrified her. 

Xavier didn’t know the truth of the situation, and that gnawed on his nerves. He glances to Jazmine pensively as her phone hits against the blades of green at her feet. He was always a pessimist, but he hadn’t been close enough to know if the third-hand reports were lies or truth. Nothing that mattered to him existed on the outside anyway, but he tried his best to not be an asshole about it. “I.. don’t have any reason to think it’s not the truth.” He murmured grimly.

It had been twenty-four hours since the announcement had been made and Thomas still could not believe it. There was no way that The Rising Power was keeping their word, right? No, of course not. He had never trusted that group and his gut had never been wrong before so why would it start now? Wait, he had to take that back because it had been wrong before, just once, but it had been his biggest regret. 

Xavier thought he hated his life, but the announcement had reinforced that he REALLY hated his life. The power spiraled into chaos in his bones with each little lie over the announcement. Small from the “I don’t believe” to the “I knew we could count on them” sent the familiar jets of power through him. He knew they were all goddamn liars. The announcement itself however, he wasn’t completely sure what he felt. Before his shift he had popped in the earbuds at the coffee shop, before he did something drastic. Maybe offer his jugular up to the barista for exchange for quiet. He wasn’t a dick - so when he saw the man in front of him start to talk. Xavier popped out one of the earbuds to listen. “I’m the wrong person to ask that, buddy. What do you think?” There’s a tiny pep of aggression in his tone, more from dealing with the crowd noise than the man himself.

When the noise of the speakers was heard, Marcelle cursed, knowing that this would not mean anything good for her of anyone working as a guard. And she had been right. Closing the town, moving everyone out, Marcelle had no idea how they would manage such a thing. Just the logistic, it sounded like a nightmare to her. Did they even think about what would happen to people once they were back into the real world? Some of the resident had been here for so long, there would need to be a transition, rehabilitation. And what about the powers? “No, I can’t tell you anything about what they are planning, I’m not assigned to anything regarding them.” This was something Marcelle had been telling everyone that stopped her and she was tired of it.

The noise across the speakers was processed with skepticism in his bones. He waited to see if he could feel the backlash of a lie vertebrate through him. However, it didn’t seem to kick in as he thought it would. Xavier blinked slowly, one of the only residents that hadn’t minded the government order. Just because someone told the truth didn’t necessarily mean they were good though - it just worked in their benefit. He turned towards Marcelle with a blank stare through her. Focus. Silently he commands himself as he listened to her little comment. He waited for the distant chime or the numbing to circle at the pit of his abdomen. Once neither seemed to occur he let out a humorless chuckle. “I don’t believe I asked you.” Xavier’s eyebrows furrow before he continued. “What is your opinion on the announcement?” A little test for himself to know if she was truthful or not.
