a good tip for anyone preparing for this ice storm if you happen to lose power: choose one room to stay in.
family, pets, anyone you live with, etc. close all the doors to keep the heat in that room as much as possible with all your blankets, entertainment, sleeping shit, pet things (food/litterboxes). whatever you need. only open the door to go to the bathroom, and try to make it quick.
if you can cover any windows with blankets or trashbags, that will also help keep the heat in.
you don't need the whole place to be warm, you need to be warm. and being around all the people/beings you live with will add heat to the one room will be helpful, even a little bit
if you want to be fun about it, you can even create a giant af fort and everyone can go 'camping' wherever you have the space for it

Heads up, my irl house might be hit by the ice storm this weekend, already taking precautions, will keep you updated. If this is like Helen, I’ll be out of cell service during this time, this will also apply to the Gotham gazette and daily planet interns
I also recommend that any of my followers in the affected areas to do the same, gather firewood if you have a indoor fireplace or a fire pit, get bottled water, fill a bathtub with water after cleaning it thoroughly, stock up on non perishables or stuff that doesn’t need to be refrigerated or frozen like potatoes, pasta, and canned goods, get generators, if they’re diesel or gasoline ones keep them outside, and definitely get heaters. Get flashlights, batteries, and candles, along with matches and lighters. And keep pets inside, even if they’re huskies. If I have missed anything, reblog or send me a message before Saturday.

I worked in a bar for a bit, first part of the training is recognizing stuff like this, the sinking thing though, that was proven to be an unreliable way to tell if a drink is spiked.
The second part of the training was looking for other signs, like body language(looking towards the door often, waiting for something, etc), sudden changes in behavior(in victim) like various signs that someone is drunk from a few shots(slurred speech, looking wobbly, generally confused).
3rd part was how to work a taser, gun, and where to aim that won’t kill them
