Hes got brain damage. I dont mean this in a joking way (tbh i find joking about that pretty mean) i mean as in: If yanni yogi was able to claim hypoxia induced brain damage and it be credible, especially since that requires being seen by a doctor... there was NOT enough air in there. And miles was a kid at the time. Its worse for kids. I looked into how long you can survive without oxygen without getting brain damage and 😬 not fucking long!!!! Even if it was just LOW oxygen in there instead of NO oxygen- chances still aint good!!!

No wonder he struggles so much with accurate memory and eyesight and writes everything down and also has gumshoe do most things for him. Guy's been walking around with completely undiagnosed serious disabilities his whole life.

but WOAH ok interesting!!! epiccc i headcanoned him w chronic memory issues + needing glasses for way longer than he actually got them but never thought about the low oxygen!

but yessss love this for him (well yk what i mean-) it definitely adds up he’d neverrrr in a million years get that checked out as the person he was before 😬 and actually love the idea that it’s part of why he makes gumshoe do everything, and it even explains why he treats him so poorly sometimes, cause he’s not just trying to establish authority or actually looking down on him but he’s also overcompensating for not being able to do these things/as well as he feels he should (and of course, as well as it’s been drilled into him that he should) anddd gumshoe, being so close with him for so long probably has noticed some of these issues to begin with and subsequently learned that pointing it out doesn’t do any good since miles has been so fragile (in the sense of quick to go on the defensive) for most of the time they’ve known each other. so when he recognises these situations he just goes ahead and does what he can cause he knows that’s the closest miles will get to actually asking for help 😢
