I don't really have any major thoughts or connecting threads on this but it is interesting wrt transness that both Mettaton and Spamton's like ideal scenarios involve simultaneously entirely transforming themselves physically and cutting off everyone they previously knew. And I guess this kind of mimics this like real reality for a lot of trans people of transitioning inevitably meaning cutting ties with loved ones who disapprove.

The thing is Spamton just makes more thematic sense if he's transgender
