Let's look at how Thalasani evolved through history, starting with the Proto-Wheruhtë language, spoken in the northern plains and mountains above the Aleanen heartland in Northern Soarakta. These people probably started as small agriculturalists on the reasonably fertile soil. The climate around there is a sort of cool Mediterranean.

The Sinnia peoples diverged from the main culture a few thousand (512's of) years ago, going West to the warmer peninsula and surrounding islands.

This land was scarcely inhabited, and with the Sinnia's knowledge of wind magic from their time on the mountainous plains, they established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They spread all across this new land, mingling with the established native peoples, their new Sinnia language became one on its own.

Now, the Sani, a particular people from the Southwest of the peninsula, grew in power over surrounding lands due to the spread of their new religion, Varijakunna (meteor hit the old capital so now we have to go vegan and wear animal masks). And this was partially done through the spread of writing.

Old inscriptions show that a sort of wood-carved script did exist before contact with Aleana, but the popularity and simplicity of the Aleanen alphabet made it the default in Sajasani's areas of control. The religion spread mostly peacefully, with few battles fought, as the Sani preferred striking deals and teaching new neighbours how to write and translate their holy texts into their languages.

Sajasani remained a steadfast yet peaceful enough power as the world advanced. During Novan's industrial revolution, they were quick to focus on creating less harmful machines than their competitors, and they were staunchly against the slave trade occurring between the continent of Ha'i, and the last Aleanen Empire, fighting against Aleana in the War for Freedom.

After the war, Sajasani took on many refugees fleeing more war torn countries, Aleana didn't ravage their land too much, but many border cities needed repairing. A new wave of vocab enterred the language through many Mazderic and further immigrants. Today, in the far-modern era, Sajasani retains good relations, and is often used as a model of a peaceful and diverse country. It is enjoying bountiful success, and is seen as a great holiday spot for cultured travellers.

I call it "Skaeloerinkao" /skʰælə˞ɹɪŋkʰɒ/, Literally "maker's night"

Every town, village, and city needs a "maker" or few, who create various toys, decorations, and other crafts. To receive a maker's gift, sixteen days before maker's night a family should leave out something edible and a drink. Usually a bit of pickled veg or smoked meat, and some spiced alcohol called "Skaloerimballei", maker's drink.

If confirmed, the family will see that their offerings are taken and a sign showing that they can expect gifts will appear. One gift will be given for each family member. Typically there'll be a primary maker and other adults who'll chip in. Only the adults know who the maker is.
