  — BJ wasn’t exactly known for his well - mannered conversation, nor did he know how to censor impulse ; still, he was NOT a pedophile. he recognized a girl alone, FRIGHTENED and nervous ; other men would process this as prey, he the predator of great veracity and STRENGTH. he most definitely did not feel the same, though he lacked the common sense to CLARIFY. he follows a few paces back, his previous comments — filthy and border - line creepy as they may have been — fading GENTLY into the evening skyline. ‘ i’m not creepin’, geez, ‘ he raises hands in defense, all open palm and ragged sincerity. ‘ y’know, i’m armed and DANGEROUS. got a blade that’s just beggin’ to get used, ‘ he pauses abruptly, realizes he probably ISN’T helping his cause here. he continues. ‘ not that i wanna use ‘em on you, of course. but i wanna HELP. ‘ 

“  ----what? ”  her heart has dropped someplace deep in her stomach,  unsure whether it’ll find its way back in its proper place.  the only thing that lets her know it’s still intact is the erratic thumping that beats in her ears  as fear courses through her veins.   earlier,  she endeavoured to shove on a brave face,  hiding the trembling in her hands by curling her fingers into fists at her side  and  retorting with harsh remarks.   but,  there’s no use for it now!   what sort of lunatic says that shit out in the open like that ?   “  wanna help ?   then,  stop scarin’ me !    i don’t need any help.    m’ just----  ”   still five blocks from her street and who knows what would happen in between.  as long as she didn’t hitchhike, right ?      

lying on her front,  heather doodles aimlessly on the pages of her diary as chandler  chatters away on the other end.  unfortunately,  she’s been home sick for the past couple days and has apparently missed quite a few monumental events  at school.   she’s almost thankful to have been tucked away in her bedroom,  if not for the fact she’d absolutely get a kick out of the  shit  her best friend describes over the phone.    despite feeling absolutely under the weather,   she cracks a smile   ;     “   sounds like our little pet is growin’ up.      -------you   really think  veronica’s got what it takes, heather ?  ”

“  oh,  c’mon, veronica—— kurt n’ ram aren’t that bad.   besides, they’ve got rockin’ bods.   don’t tell me you haven’t at least thought about it once.  ”   she nudges  blue-clad teen with her elbow despite the grimace that she knows will inevitably  grace the other’s  rosy-hued features.   truth is,  they’re probably all that bad   /  worst of the worst  ;  but they’re boys !   you can only really expect one thing from them.     “  plus,  ram usually passes out before he can manage to whip his rocket out.      so,  if i’m not feelin’ it,  i’ll just bring an extra six-pack, yanno ?  ”

“ Forget it. It’s  totally unimportant.  Just a stupid line I heard from one’a those stoners in the hallway.  ”   Pushing off of the wall she’d been leaning back against, yellow-clad teenager tugs on her blazer  as she faces the mirror,  slender fingers diving into bouncy waves of blonde.  “  Getting high is the new age of enlightenment.    -----Don’t think too much of it, a’right?  ”  Winning smile that graces soft features doesn’t quite  reach  the eyes,  but she’s quickly come to the conclusion  the reason behind it is on a need to know basis.

 THERE  WAS  AN  INTERNAL  WINCE  AT  THE  NICKNAME . had  it  been  any  of   the   other  heathers  call  her  that , she’d  punch  them  so  hard  their  nose  would  collapse ;   adding  to  the  first  facial  surgery  of  their  lives . but  mcnamara  actually  managed  to  cool   down  violent  out  bursts ,  simply  because  it  seems  this  heather  never  seemed  to   actively  go  out  of  way  to  be  a  GIANT  FUCKING  ASSHOLE .  so  instead ,  blowing   smoke  in  her  direction  with  a  pleased  glean  in  brown  eyes .

“ geez,  fine.    you don’t have to give me the bitch stare. ”   she swatted at the smoke that  inconsiderately rushed at her in plumes,  coughing  with perhaps a tad of exaggeration.    just to piss the other off, she’d pretend to  care about the school’s restrictions on  smoking at school, especially when the locker room’s smoke detector has already gone off about  3 times this week,  but she’d rather not test out cora’s temper right before her date tonight.  a   broken nose wouldn’t be the hottest  accessory.  

“  anyone ever tell you that you’ve got a filthy mouth, mister ?  ”  gaze drags up and down  /  displeased with behaviour she’s ended up being on the receiving end of----- sad to say,  it  wouldn’t  be the  first and she’s  willing to bet wouldn’t be the last.    truth be told,  heather should be home by now,  snuggled up in bed with her walkman,  blaring madonna through her  headphones.   instead,  she’s burdened herself with the need to please,   and  what  exactly has it gotten her ?    a  walk home all on her lonesome  while her  car is being used as a fuckin’ mattress for  chandler and her latest college  fuck.     “  why don’t you go creep on someone else?   ”
