you know it's always been a fear of mine that someone would copy tvp and change up the wording to create a male version and frame it as an equal counterpart, subtracting from the purpose of tvp which is to center transfem survivors... but never in my worst nightmares did I imagine they would make their project specifically about abuse from transfems and nobody else. fucking horrific

and to twist it into something that uplifts the already dominant voices of the trans sphere, that specifically only accepts submissions when the submitter is talking about violence from transfems.

You're not centering their healing, you fucking shitheel. The point of the TVP is that a small group with a minority of power is constantly sexually assaulted by everyone else on the planet, while this "project" is, for some reason, focusing on presenting trans feminine people as uniquely and especially dangerous and harmful to "TME's"; rhetoric that has existed and been used to socially murder us for decades at this point.

This isn't a revolutionary new campaign to shed light on an unacknowledged system of abuse and harm that's occurring under our noses, it's a blatant tool of transmisogynistic oppression.

Returning to my first point, flipping TME and TMA like this is self-evidently wrongheaded and ignorant to what they are. This assumption that TME refers specifically and exclusively to trans masculine people for some fucking reason is the most self-centered birthday boy bullshit, and it would be laughable if it wasn't being used to further buttress the idea that we're uniquely predatory and evil.

Because TME and TMA are not interchangeable in this way, and an "assailant" being TMA does not carry the same, or any, systemic weight, power of oppression, or abuse via privilege, that those who are exempt from transmisogyny do when they abuse, rape, assault, gaslight, and correctively rape a transmisogynized person.

The only thing about the replies on their posts that encourages me somewhat is that even trans masculine folk who think TME/TMA is "bullshit" think that this shit stinks/is bait. They know this is what actual divisiveness looks like, they know this is a disgusting way to talk about trans women, even if they don't think it's worth talking about our unique oppression.

sometimes it is genuinely sobering to be confronted with how little the average transmasc knows or thinks about the transmisogyny present in scociety and especially in systems that have power over us.

I don't say this to dunk on or insult my transmasc friend, he's a genuiniely wonderful person, I'm just baffled by the ignorance at play here.

he describes himself as an actuvist for trans rights. he didn't know about v-coding, or about trans women being denied access to domestic and sexual abuse help services for women, he didn't know how fucking bad the state of femenizing healthcare is because like many others, he heard "testosterone is a controlled substance and estrogen isn't" and concluded from that that getting on E must be easier, no further research needed.

but the most important part? when I pointed this out to him, he admitted his bias and promised to do better. he recognized how he had been ignorant of transfem's specific struggles because of his own marginalized status and reaffirmed his support.

I am so used to being met with hostility when discussing transmisogyny that this(the bare fucking minimum) was a genuine positive surprise to me in the moment.

hello again, uhm. I'm currently living with two other trans women and we're sadly really behind on rent, while we get our feet back under us. all three of us are disabled and trying to find work, but as you know it's really hard right now. while I've been able to get some incredibly minimal government assistance, my roommates can't because they're not from Canada, and I'm having to sell my car to make up for the missed rental payment. that's not even to mention covering our other bills like food, medications, or our phone and internet bills... if you could, we'd appreciate as much help as possible, and any help you do give is going to go to either making sure we can stay in our home, or if we can't do that, making sure we're all okay while we find somewhere else to go.

but i know calls to action without any kind of instruction aren't very helpful so here are some tips that i think you can easily do yourself with your own circles:

1) Staring off simple: Look around. Are there any BIPOC girls in your friend group, or are all of you white? Why? Do you often joke about everyone in your friend group being white? Why is that funny?

What to do: Examine why there are no people of color in your group. Examine why people of color may not be comfortable enough to hang out with you & your friends. Correct these, where possible. Do some reading on anti-racism. Talk to more people.

2) Examine how you talk about people of color & racism. Are you downplaying racism in your community? Are you treating women of color as dramatic or unreasonable for bringing it up? Do you find yourself only defending white dolls, always defending them from claims of racism, but never defending BIPOC dolls? Why?

What to do: Think about why you care more about accusations of racism than protecting the women of color in your community. Make sure you're making your space safe for BIPOC girls. Speak openly and loudly about anti-racism. Hold your sisters accountable- they should be apologizing when they say or do something wrong.

3) This one might sound silly, but as we often meet each other over fandom and roleplay- how are nonwhite characters treated in your circle? Are they always aggressive, angry, or antagonistic? Do you find yourself putting nonwhite characters in more roles like cops, dictators, sex pests, etc?

Additionally: If your circle shares sexual content, is there a lot of art where there's a pale/blonde character on the bottom, and a darker character on top? Are you and your friends always drawing darker characters as more dominant, more sexually aggressive, or promiscuous, while the white/pale characters are more innocent, submissive, modest, or clueless?

What to do: Examine how the way your group approaches fandom & art with nonwhite characters in it may make people of color uncomfortable. Examine why your art may make people of color feel unsafe or awkward hanging out with you. It's not wrong to have the occasional character of color be more antagonistic or dominant, but it's a problem when this is a pattern. If it's happening All The Time, question why!

4) Be honest with yourself: Did this post make you feel defensive? Does it make you feel defensive when people say something you did was racist? Why?

If a person of color tells you your actions were racist, they trust you to improve. I don't tell people they're being racist if i think they're going to hurt me for bringing it up. I know many like me. Don't prove us wrong- take these criticisms into account and work on it. You aren't cursed to be some kind of terrible bigot forever because you messed up- panicking without action is useless. Just be sure you examine the behavior in question and work to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. Okay?

A communist from the global south posts an imperfectly worded but accurate observation: that western leftcoms are more mobilized by their own exploitation than by global exploitation by their ruling class, and that the priorities of actually-existing anti-imperial struggle diverge from the priorities of a left that draws its own wages from the profits of that global exploitation. The reply from the imperial core opens by "respectfully" declaring this position "anti-communist in its sincerest essence" and proceeds to condescendingly lecture a LIBYAN COMMUNIST on the correct understanding of class struggle, the correct interpretation of Stalin, and the correct Marxist analysis of his own condition.

I want to be very clear about what is happening. Someone with direct experience having to "see imperialism take up arms against your nation to try to destroy everything it's ever built" is being told by a resident of one of the nations profiting from that destruction that his material analysis of his own position is insufficiently Marxist. Not just wrong, but anti-communist.

Lenin named this position "social-chauvinism", also over a century ago, and here we see the strategy modernized for social media. Core communists have always done this, consistently characterizing national liberation movements as digressions from pure proletarian internationalism, distractions from real class struggle - theoretically immature forms that needed correcting and instruction in proper Marxism by their more sophisticated metropolitan comrades.

This contradiction never seems to occur to those sophisticated metropolitan comrades: they demand solidarity from the people trying to throw off the imperial yoke while drawing their own wages from that same yoke. As we can see, that has not changed.

Stalin's entire political career centered on building Socialism in One Country. It was defined by a theoretical and practical commitment to developing the productive forces of a socialist state under imperial encirclement, precisely the "vulgar developmentalism" being sneered at here. Because no, I don't think making a gesture to "understanding" the rage actually makes up for ignoring the substance of the argument and presenting the whole original post as just a mistake made in the heat of passion - that actually makes it worse.
