AN UNCATCHABLE TOMORROW - RULES.

In every verse, there is one “mortal” being that keeps pace with Ozy in everything he does — often being the focal point of how he rationalizes a “good” thing to do (even if the “best” option is particularly obvious). The man’s name is Japhet — though, only Ozy and close friends of his seem to be able to call him by his name. Everyone else seems to get a quick reminder of his title and practice — Father, and though the reminder is merely a cursory correction, he is often NOT the person who defends his own so called honor. More often than not, it’s Ozy who insists that people call him FATHER Japhet at most, and primarily just Father unless he lets you. (Japhet finds this entirely too endearing, even and especially for Ozy.)

Japhet is very good at pretending he is and acting the part of a mortal man. In almost every verse with Ozy, he is often questioned how long he’s known the very obvious immortal man he stays with (along with other unwarranted comments). He never gives exacts, but because of his talent with making people feel comfortable, he often knows exactly what the “acceptable” answer is. Around other perceived long lived and even outright immortal beings, he doesn’t really bother with placating gestures. Because of what they both are and represent to most worlds they are a part of, age is not exactly their … most prevalent concern.

Having met Ozy when he was a “younger” man, and while he himself was still working on the intrinsics of his perceived immortality, Japhet is a loyal supporter of practically anything and everything Ozy thinks to do — and even more so the things he doesn’t think about before doing. He’s more often than not the one advocating for Ozy to indulge in his selfishness, only pulling on that thread bare “leash” (if it’s even that…) in their relationship when Ozy is clearly going off the deep end in a way he will surely regret later. That situation is so rare that Japhet has once forgotten the last instance of it between each points in their shared histories.

"Legal" Name: Amon al-Sha'wari

Writer's Note: unless your character is a literal god of any kind, they should not know his real name. there is not a record in known existence that knows of him. and with his name being sort-of pretty common in the modern day, it would make no sense for a non-deific character to notice anything odd about it even after it's spoken. even other gods of the worlds he encounters often will refer to him as his given moniker. it makes no sense that your character would use the name only his ( also immortal ) mother still uses for him.

Common Alias / Given Moniker: Ozy or Ozymandias

Writer's Note: while he will not react negatively to other related nicknames or given monikers under a similar translation of his name ( King of Kings ) or the direct Egyptian / Arabic transliteration ( the Sun-God's Chosen Truth ), he will not always immediately respond to it, and may even get confused as to why you're using a different moniker for him. Very few people get the ability to use a name other than the one he gives for himself.

Perceived Age: Indistinctly anywhere between 40 and 60.

Writer's Note: again, unless your character is a literal god of any kind, it should NEVER BE OBVIOUS how old Ozy is to your character. even for most gods, they'd have to take a split second to gauge the era he's from unless they are ONE OF THE EGYPTIAN PANTHEON. even most egyptian deities may struggle to consciously acknowledge how ancient he is, outside of Ra ( who oversees the pharaoh legacy ), Hathor ( the goddess his birthday is watched over ), and Thoth ( the god that initially infected him with the curiosity of what "tomorrow" would bring ). all the others had very little influence in his day to day, even knowing how the egyptian people operated.

Birthday: very possibly November 15th

Writer's Note: to be entirely too pedantic, his birthday was during the general affectation of what historians would call THE MONTH OF HATHOR which is really vague time of year. it's similar to asking for someone's actual birthday and they answer with saying that they're a capricorn with no further clarification. that's almost a whole month to narrow down, you fuck.

Height: 6 ft 5 in. / ~196cm ( 195.56cm exactly )

Weight: It's up there, surely. Healthy and happy.

Ethnicity: Ancient Egyptian. ... is there supposed to be another?

Nationality: PROUD of his people! ( Egyptian )

Social Status: Always deemed noble to some degree.

Writer's Note: he does not give away his ex royal status to people who aren't emotionally close to him or those who don't express wanting that emotional connection with him. most times he also won't bring it up even then. "It wasn't relevant to the conversation", is often his defense, and more often than not he's right. how would you even prove that you're a ROYAL in his case anyway? his kingdom was outright destroyed LONG before people figured out how to effectively preserve records. hard to stay relevant, that way.

Financial Status: it's better if you don't ask, honestly.

Religious Beliefs: ( primarily ) Kemetism, but "recently" has adopted some aspects of Indian belief ( karma & wu wei mostly ).

[REDACTED] / Merit: First Wife, mother of nearly all of his kids prior to "ascension". The strongest sorceress history never knew, and still retains a lot of her influence even in death.

[REDACTED] / Asim: First Husband, "father" of at least one of the other kids with his husband. Extremely proficient warrior, but preferred to stick to learning as much as his connections would allow. Most would consider death the end of his learning - if anything, it broke the chains of his restrictions on where and when and how he could learn.

Father Japhet: Not the most recent lover, but definitely the most present and consistent. There was a time in his life where Japhet was not consistently there every ( at least ) other day, and it drove him into a chaotic frenzy for multiple years. Upon reconnecting with him, he immediately calmed down. Sort of. Japhet is another immortal being like him, and for various hilarious reasons, is much stronger than Ozy despite being chronologically much much younger.

Beings of Importance ( for better or for worse ):

The Vagabond: Rose Principle. She was the first person to tell him of any implication of how wonderful the rest of the world was, when he was very very young. Even after thousands of years of hardship, her words - "There's a whole world outside your home here, waiting to be discovered. And by the time you've seen it all, everything you have seen before will have changed. Time to do it all over again." - have stuck with him to keep him going. There is always something new to see.

The Lightkeeper: Ew. As the person who explained it to me, this fucker is like 3 steps away from gr**ming Ozy and has been for thousands of years. This fuck is the reason why Ozy has the building fear of being forgotten, and often refuses to be truly alone for almost exactly the same reasons as being afraid of being forgotten. The Lightkeeper is the one who insists that despite his attempts to connect to the people of every era he interacts with, he will never truly be one of them.
