AN UNCATCHABLE TOMORROW. (rules)
HI THERE, ACES! my name is meraki ( often and primarily shortened to mera ) and i'm your humble dealer of the cards on this blog. i am 25 years old, i use any pronouns ( as long as you're not a dick about it ), and i live in the EST / GMT-4 timezone. i am EXTREMELY MENTALLY UNSOUND, and i will often make a lot of dark jokes to cope with it. and that's just out of character! i will also not be on every single day and often will disappear at random to handle irl situations without warning and sometimes without updates or explanation. i ask that you remain patient with me, if you want to write with me.

I AM A VERY BLUNT AND NONCHALANT PERSON. - that is to say, while i tend to keep myself as aloof and distant as possible ( for my own sanity and wellbeing, physically and mentally ), that isn't to say i can't express concern, care and curiosity about how my rp partners are actually doing. but i will not hold my tongue if i see something that worries me about your behavior. if you can't handle that, i don't mind if we rarely / limit our ooc talks.
WRITING IS MY HOBBY NOT MY JOB. - i hate that i have to clarify this at this point, it should be obvious, but here we are. as stated previously in this post, i am extremely mentally unsound, with or without medication to help manage it. i am also extremely PHYSICALLY unsound, with or without medication to help manage it, too. you're free to remind me occasionally if you think i have forgotten / overlooked / not seen your reply, ask, or starter, but i will always at least try to keep it in my drafts until i'm absolutely sure that i can't answer it ( which is admittedly incredibly rare ).
NO GODMODDING / POWERPLAY. - even if you have a muse / character that you write that is just as or even stronger than my own, i will NEVER approach a situation assuming that my character knows everything yours, or anything similar. i will always ask to see if my character will know something less obvious to know about them, and if it is something they hide and my character shouldn't know it except as a caveat of their "domain" of expertise, i will STILL ASK FIRST. i expect the same courtesy in return.
YOU GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR. - my character is a very powerful person, and ultimately, at the end of the day, not exactly a good one. while he will often do things that are considered good, it is almost always because it benefits him in some way, immediate or later on. this isn't to say he can't or won't do altruistic actions, but most of the time he won't think of doing it for altruistic reasons. he is selfish, he is hedonistic, and he is battle hungry. at the slightest provocation he will assume people want to brawl over a disagreement and he will be hard to dissuade from that idea, even if he won't throw the first punch.
MATCH EFFORT FOR EFFORT. - i don't like writing multiple paragraphs as a reply and getting one or two for every single time. it feels demoralizing. while yes i understand if there's not much for your character to do in a couple back to back replies, if it's something that happens every time, i may not have many threads for us. i want to feel like we're both having a great time writing together, and it won't feel that way to me if every reply i gave is met with half the perceived effort. ( this does not apply to those who tell me a reason, and those i know to be or have been told are ESL. i'm not unreasonable nor a prick. )
GENRE SAVVY. - not everyone likes the dark themes consistently, and not everyone likes the consistent suggestive themes. that's fine. but if you're following me primarily for one genre you want to write, girl just tell me! i do not fucking bite! i don't even care if what you want out of my character / this blog is purely smut! i just want to know what to send to people when i send out random prompts or asks!
DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT. - i use this term as a pretty distinct warning for all my posts, even the ones that don't have a clear tag for what the genre of the thread is about. my blog's catch all term / tag is "dead dove do not eat", which is a fic writer term for ( as i understand it ) "you knew what you were getting into" as well as "if you didn't read the tags, then don't hiss at me for what i tried warned you about". generally speaking, it is a warning that i told you what is in the post, or generally on the blog as a whole, and i won't change it unless it's truly fucking with a majority of people. even then, it would have been tagged.
REBLOG KARMA. - i literally don't care. i'd like it if you sent in a prompt or meme or sentence starter from the thing you're reblogging from me, but man i really really don't care. this fascination with "not being a meme source" is weird to me, but you do you i suppose? whatever. have fun. idc what meme you reblog from my blog.
NO CHEATING / INFIDELITY THREADS. - not only is it a severe squick / almost outright trigger for me, my character would never cheat on any of his partners, of which he has had MANY over the countless years. similarly, if you have issues with the idea of polyamory in fiction or roleplay, that's fine, but it will just bar you from shipping romantically with my character. in every verse, NO exceptions, my character will already be romantically involved with at least one other person, who will also be polyamorous.
AGE RESTRICTION. - i'm aware of my rules on other blogs being exceptionally strange when it comes to the request of being a specific age, and i'll be blunt about the age restriction on this blog. idc your EXACT age, just make sure it's clear that you're ( legitimately ) at least a legal adult to interact with this character. no, 17 turning 18 is not enough.
FORMATTING? YES. - as you can already see, i fucking looooove my fancy text. i don't use zalgo all that often ( it's rare, and often just for emphasis ), i don't use special text ( messletters style ) outside of graphics and such, and often the most i will format my posts with are the text colors ( used for dialogue ) and double - sometimes triple - spacing ( for emphasis ). this is the type of formatting that brings me joy. my apologies if it becomes hard to read, and you can ask me to accommodate for you specifically ( i've done it before ).
PERSONAL LEXICON. - i am so painfully aware that some of my chosen words for situations ( e.g. insane, crazy, etc ) will come across as ableist and such. at this point, i will thank you for pointing out a word being ableist to me, but there is a nonzero ( honestly, highly likely ) chance that i'm using it from a point of experience with the illness. i use crazy / insane / psycho / etc words because i have the matching illnesses to be able to use it, in my personal opinion. i'm not saying they're okay to use, i'm just saying i don't think ( if used non-cruelly ) it's such a horrible thing to say. obviously that opinion is a case-by-case basis but that's my viewpoint on the matter, and i'd love to debate it if you can be normal about people not agreeing with you. [thumbs up!]
DON'T VAGUEPOST. - you'd fucking think this would be obvious, hmm? apparently not. i've had way too many people vaguepost about me with such obvious references TO ME over the past 10 years of being on this site, that i'm going to be so for realโ if i think you're posting about me vaguely and you don't approach me first, i WILL BE APPROACHING YOU ABOUT IT. if you say it's not about me, i will accept it a few times. but after three times, i will show you your own words / posts and ask one last time if you were vagueposting about me, and ask why. if you deny it again, i will hardblock. i'm just not here for that child's play, guys. ( sorry if it sounds mean, i've literally lost track of how many people which is more than i can count on my hands have done this already. )
DO NOT INTERACT IF. - i normally don't do DNIs. but considering that some people don't know how to be fucking normal online to other real living people, i seem to be following this genuinely god awful trend. if you interact with lyco (lovesfolly), josh (floristpyre) or silver (edgwranpo & plenty others), please always tag their blogs, this is NONNEGOTIABLE. i don't CARE if you interact with those three, but they've hurt me multiple times in the past. HOWEVER, IF YOU INTERACT WITH AKU (dawnbrkr) AFTER I HAVE TOLD YOU HOW MUCH THEY HAVE HURT SO MANY PEOPLE, I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO IMMEDIATELY BLOCK YOU. at that point it isn't policing who you interact with, it's me noticing that you favor your writing over how someone is actively hurting other people without even trying to apologize for any of it.
TAG THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR DEALER. - sacrificial knives / imagery, realistic spiders ( no matter how 'cute' they are ), noncon ( not the kink ), any mention of any kind of assault, medical malpractice of any extent, cheating / infidelity, loud sounds ( such as fireworks, sudden screams, auditory jumpscares, etc ). there are other smaller things that, eh, don't matter as much.
